Gronk defending that play

EZ was too deep for a Hail Mary. Gronk out of position got exposed big time.

Maybe Gordon if he stays next season and gets to work on it during an offseason drill.

Gronk, without practicing approach angles or the agility to correct a bad one, was the last hope we had of winning the game.

You can’t say it was entirely his fault, there was a lot of bad situation football played by us today.

What makes it worse is that they essentially used their base package and just replaced McCourty with Gronk. I could understand - though even then it’s difficult - if you still had McCourty and 6-7 defensive backs. It’s funny because earlier in the game the broadcasters pointed out they had 7 DBs on one play. But on that one they had, what, 3? And Gronkowski? One of the absolute dumbest defensive strategies ever. The play didn’t even require luck or a superhuman effort. Just a standard lateral fest desperation play that is usually overwhelmed by defenders.

Another brainfart by the coaches. No way tannehhil can reach the end zone from the 30, it was pretty obvious a catch and run was coming. Not having another tackler out there was a massive error.

But its not all the n the coaches, i saw lots of guys laying around or lolly gagging on that play instead of hustling. Other than Gilmore who appeared to be guarding a lateral, they should all get chewed out .

A coaching debacle at all levels on that play. It starts and ends with Belichick.

There were many mistakes that led to the loss today, but that play was high on the list. Atrocious coaching.

Definitely was not Gronks fault. That is 100% on the coaching staff.

If you want to put tall guys out there you may as well that put Trent Brown out there also.

I wonder how much BB is going to have to pay to not do his press conference after the game?

Gronk was in because that is a "last play" defense. The last play can be a hail mary pass. In a situation where chances of a hail mary are low, the "jumper" (Gronk) should be substituted for another safety/DB. For tackling purposes. That was not done.

It is what it is. Just another in a long line of head scratchers down in Miami, Belichick & Brady's personal Bizarro World.

Just glad Gronk didn’t tear every ligament in his knee awkwardly changing direction to try to make that tackle.

Please keep Gronk on the bench Bill when the team doesn’t have the ball. Thanks
There is nothing wrong with him being in there in an actual Hail Mary situation.

Problem was that this wasn't and everyone in the building (except, apparently, Flores and BB) -- including Tannehill -- knew Tannehill couldn't get the ball to the endzone.

I have yet to see him be a factor on a Hail Mary pass anyway.

This is on Brian Flores, who has no experience prior to this season as DC. Poor situational football.

Flores has to answer for that.

I have no problem with him being in there for Hail Mary situations in future, he has great hands and the size to dominate in those situations.

Tonight wasn't that, and it was a major screw up coaching wise. This is not the situational Patriots who are supposed to know what to do in these moments.

Bruschi indirectly saying that was a dumb f***ing move by somebody.
