With the strategy they employed there was no reason to play either. Both were hurt in that pathetic game.

Edit" Should have SAT in that game

BB has a standing offer; that if you know the play a person will get hurt. He's willing to pull the player.

Nonsensical response. If they were balls to the wall for HFA I would not have held either out. Their STRATEGY for that game was stupid and still makes no sense, even if neither Brady or Gronk had been injured.... But they BOTH were.. ****ing stupid

I didn't want them playing and said as much before the game. Miami was a dirty team throughout the second half of the season. I'm not sure how injured both guys truly are, but I wouldn't have minded them sitting out and letting Garoppolo and Chandler get the reps. With the shots Brady took throughout the second half of the season as a whole, we're lucky he's even going to be in the line-up. His body has got to be killing him.

Some questions remain for sure and as long time fans of this team I think it is totally reasonable to question BB on this one.

It IS however in the past. If the gameplan in Miami was to win....boy it never showed on the field...

The problem was they waited until the second half before trying to win. Either sit them or play the whole game to win. Crap always happen when you half ass it. I thought they should have sat and play our backups the whole game, we might have won if we tried that from the start.

Agreed but it's water under the bridge. Onto KC. Go Pats!!
The Gronk re-injury in week 17, even though he was basically a decoy/blocker is new "water" so it needs a little time to go under the bridge, and some new fresh venting from me sorry.

They didn't. Can't do anything about that now.

lol. The irony though is that even though technically I am applyint "hindsight" the strategy used in week 17 is very easily recognized as extremely stupid, and an utter failure on BB's part. Easily the dumbest thing he has done as a coach at NE that I can think of him doing.

No, your argument is DOA via pure hindsight. BB had what he figured was a valid plan going into that game where he would rest certain injured players and play other lesser-injured players, idea being that he could accomplish both immediate goals -- secure HFA while also preserving key personnel for the playoffs who otherwise would be at serious risk vs. Miami. Gronk and Brady HAD to play for the plan to succeed. It didn't succeed, but you can't say it wasn't a solid concept going in. Sometimes, the best-laid plans fail.

It was a VERY bad plan
