Dunno, looked like it just went through his hands and HE DID land in bounds. I thought he actually caught it, turned away to high five my brother and turned around to see he let it slip through his hands.

I think he should have made the play.......I too thought he caught it and was hoping he kept his feet inbounds. Its a play he has and should have made.

Watched it again a few times. Manning floated that pass toward the sideline. He had Ty Warren (I think) blocking his view -- he hucked it. No laser rocket arm here, the ball arced high in the Arizona air, a fat duck of pigskin that came down to No. 22's raised arms like a homing pigeon returning to a Bronx rooftop. Asante did not have to make some stupendous play on the ball to catch it -- it hit him on the hands.
Think of how the entire game hinged on that play. If Asante catches the ball, the story being told of that games is this: Eli reverts to form, throws bad pick to end game, just like he did in week 17, killing Giants final drive. Instead of the hero, he is Eli the choker who couldn't get it done.
One key play. A perfect season, history, and sports immortality bounced off Asante's hands and fell impotently to the ground.
Woulda, Shoulda, Couldas are gonna kill me about this game. what can we do...it's over. I will state that i thought Asante also should have come down with that pick. oh well. Tuesday is starting to feel better than monday and I'm sure wednesday will be better yet. Go Celts, Spring training can't get here fast enough, GO SOX, and lets have a good Draft and free agency hunt.
Manning put three balls off pats db's hands on the final drive. Asante's was a somewhat difficult play that should have been made. I would say the same about Rodney's. Merriweathers was a tough play but should have been made. When three guys drop three balls like that your left to ponder if it was meant to be,

Exactly, three dropped INT's and a missed sack, you had to know we were doomed. The non-sack/Tyree catch might have been the greatest play in Super Bowl history, unfortunately it had to come against us. The football gods were in the Giants favor Sunday. Once you saw Woods not recover that fumble, you had to wonder, what the h*ll is going on here ?? Oh well.
