Sure. Is the game being refereed at the field level or behind the curtain in NY by the Wizard of Sleaze?

Why not, attorneys are people, too, and need to work.

Why not? Uh, gee.... maybe because it would completely destroy the entire concept of sports if every fan is entitled to $75,000 when his team is the victim of a bad call.

I don’t understand the question. The on field official made the call - or, I should say, the non-call. This was not (at the time) a reviewable play so NY had no say in that non-penalty.

If the NYFL and the 32 can run Tom Brady through the court system for nothing then I'm all in favor of a fan suing the NYFL for anything.

I may not like the NFL front office but I would not exactly be happy if the NFL was sued out of existence (which is what would happen if every fan got $75,000 for a bad call)

I'm kidding around. Anything that creates even the slightest aggravation for the League Office is just fine. Unclench your briefs.

I don't think that one lawsuit will take down the NYFL. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

I am not a lawyer, I have never played one on TV nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. That said, I believe 'detrimental reliance' was far and away the best thing to base the suit on. Would any one of us as Pats fans say that having to rely on the honesty and integrity of the league office hasn't proven to be detrimental to us? Fans are perforce in the position of relying on the NFL running an honest game and adhering to their own stated rules. This reliance has been made all the more important now with the advent of legalized gambling. By any measure it is fair to say a case could at the very least be argued the league in the person of Goodell failed to address an egregiously unfair act by utilizing the power granted to the Commissioner under Rule 17, Section 2, of the NFL rule book and therefore certainly at least has merit. That is to say it has at least enough merit to compel testimony. Likewise with the appearance of fraud.

Basing it on negligence is preposterous on it's face. The league was hardly negligent when it assigned an officiating crew based on its accepted practice. In their turn, given the long and storied history of blown calls in the NFL, any case based on the officials being "negligent in their officiating" as opposed to simple human error should expect to get thrown out as baseless.

I agree. Having this resolved in a court of law seems like a colossal waste of time but making life for Ginger Idiot a tad more complicated is not.

Of course one lawsuit won't take down the league, but if the guy won, do you think he'd be the only lawsuit? I haven't read the filing, but I think he is suing on his own behalf. Don't quote me on this, but I don't think he is suing on behalf of a class. You know what that means if he won? It means you'd have 70,000 other fans in attendance at that game entitled to the same $75,000. Each.

That all is still in the head of every Saints fan and even in the head of every Saints player.

It might well ruin THIS season, if the players don't get over it. It is time to just MOVE ON.

One of the amazing things about the Patriots is that last year, good or bad, is just last year. You get over last year, immediately, or else.

Oh, for sure, I don't have a solution. It'll take a whole lot of smart people to work on creating a suite of solutions. Whatever is come up with, the first step is recognizing the issue. And those conversations are being held in whispers, behind closed doors, in NO right now. The biggest challenge is emotional - grief, anger, etc.

Well, I have always thought it pretty dumb to build a city below sea level, right next to bodies of water.

Actually, he was murdered three years ago. The NFL announced it briefly via Twitter then pulled the Tweet -- calling it a "prank" -- when they realized he could be replaced by Goodell Bot and no one would know the difference.

My thoughts exactly. Ultimately this is going nowhere, but if it causes Fraudger some heartburn, that's a good thing.
