I have no idea how these things happen : it must be that the Patriots are so reviled by everyone else who follows the league that the league office can do anything it wants to and everyone cheers.

Make it up as they go along. When people say "But, the NFLPA agreed to give the commissioner that power in the CBA, so, they can't complain!". Well, the NFL has to use that power responsibly. That's what the NFLPA agreed to. They certainly didn't agree the NFL could do whatever they wanted, with no consistency or rhyme or reason.

I don't think Goodell has much/any integrity, but Gloria Allred *****ing because Goodell didn't block an unarrested man from playing football isn't ever going to move the dial for me.

I know it's Clayton flapping his gums but for Spikes to get a 4 game suspension for leaving the scene of an accident is just plain crazy logic.

If Spillman had been a star, the league would have been forced to deal with the situation.

That really ticks me off! And it's probably true too!

Its too bad but it's accurate. If issues and circumstances do not drive/impact the league's brand, revenue stream, political or social agenda they leave them alone.

I think when you start punishing players who aren't charged with anything you set a bad precedent. Do your own research and if you think your guy did it then cut him and be done with it. But the NFL shouldn't punish anyone who isn't charged with a crime. Although I think the Ray Rice issues is a different situation in which we have clear evidence of abuse even without charges against him.

Yes, that's a team issue.

But the NFL shouldn't punish anyone who isn't charged with a crime.

The NFL shouldn't punish anyone who isn't found guilty of an NFL-oriented misdeed (deflate football = NFL penalty, deflate girlfriend = None of NFL's business.)

When you start allowing for exceptions to rules, the exceptions often start subsuming the rules.

I don't recall these abuses of power being too common prior to the signing of the 2011 CBA. I think it's safe to say if the CBA were under negotation now, the NFLPA wouldn't be so willing to accept the commissioner having absolute authority.

Someone needs to inform Goodell that integrity begins in childhood ...
called telling the truth and it develops into other areas from there and also includes honor and leadership at some point. Brady has way more integrity - honor and leadership than Goodell could ever hope to have.
