It's easy, and only takes a few moments.BIG space eating DT's like RB's are no longer hard to find: dime a dozen. The weirdest thing Bill said after Dogchow signed was that "he's one of the best DT's in the league", yet his contract clearly didn't reflect that. Fast forward, he does have some ammo to use though. They were 4th in the NFL in average yards allowed per game at 93 and the lowest yards per carry at 3.3.
This is what happens when other players on the team are getting signed prematurely. Barmore is an example. He has one standout year and now he makes $21M per year. Derrick Brown in Carolina is an even worse deal. Dogchow can make the case that he takes heat off Barmore and that he doesn't play full time. If Chow were to leave, this would put a ton of pressure on Barmore.
I agree. Isn't he making 10/Million this season? He shouldn't be upset with the contract wolf didn't sign him. I'd say if anything give him a 1 year pay bump, and draft another DT.Sounds like he didn’t get what he wanted from internal discussions and his fallback is whining on a public forum to get support.
Probably time to move on. He’s being paid plenty for being a secondary guy next to Barmore this year and clearly sees himself as more valuable than what the team does.
Watts is the guy that could replace him in the line up should he sit out. Godchaux is a solid player up front for us.. but he's not a game changer..But space eating DT's like RB's are no longer hard to find: dime a dozen.
Watts the DT we signed from Pitt is younger, and would be more impactful. I like Godchaux, but he's not a game changer. He's steady eddy on the line. I'm all for the team continuing to extend guys, but not everyone is deserving. The guy in peppers that is deserving of it hasn't been complaining .One of the hardest players to evaluate. He's not top tier, but where exactly he falls after that is beyond most (any?) of us to assess fairly.
Still, his role is not one that requires top dollar to fill ably. He has a nice contract for a DT that isn't a pass rush threat. I get he wants to maximize his earnings but the team isn't obligated to give him extra money for free. That might set a bad precedent.
Not sure how it will or should play out but it's a nice, many-layered test for the new FO.
Watts looks solid.Watts is the guy that could replace him in the line up should he sit out. Godchaux is a solid player up front for us.. but he's not a game changer..
Younger and more impactful as wellWatts looks solid.
