Gilmore traded to Carolina

Ah okay. So you’re more concerned with Belichick’s legacy than helping us win the division. Got ya.

LOL we're not winning the division this year...I would rather have him play for us so that we can compete for a wild card spot. But i'd rather see a team other than Tampa get him.

you're welcome, highly medicated psycho
Sounds like something a woman would say. A good scissor session with your lonely wife should work out that frustration.

Why not? If we get the OL fixed, I don’t see why we couldn’t compete. We sure as hell didn’t spend all that money for nothing.

At the end of the day, it's about getting a decent return. As long as it's not a team you play twice a year, get what you can from whomever.

Tampa returns to irrelevance when TB12 retires in 2 years.

It may not be likely, but if we beat Houston (which we still should) and KC beats Buffalo, suddenly we're one game back with 12 games to go, two of which are against the Bills themselves. Not exactly the drivers seat, but there's no reason to completely right off that possibility after four games where two of the losses came on a combined 3 points.

I don't think we can compete with Buffalo this year. Just my opinion.

They could negotiate with him when he becomes an UFA and hope his agent comes down from $15m a little, or they could trade for him right now and pay him $7m prorated.
Doesn't he have to agree?

Eh, I'm a hater. I don't want to see successful teams succeed any more than they already have.

It's that simple, really. Get the OL dialed up and the D is good enough to compete, as shown last week vs Tampa. I don't think any of us are under the delusions that this is a super bowl level D, but right now they don't have to be.

Lol another superstar bill let’s walk for not

He isn't elite against the run, but he is good against it. Better than what the Pats have now. And one game doesn't make a career.
I mean I don't hate the move but I don't really understand releasing a veteran who could help the defense while signing another veteran to be a potential progress stopper for the young guys. It seems to be a mixed message as far as what they think of the team this year.

Cool. I’d rather not watch the Bills win the division, let alone contend for a Super Bowl. If Gilmore going to Tampa helps prevent that, then I’m game.

Can Gilmore object to where he is traded if he doesn't agree with the deal?
He can do exactly what he's been doing here, saying he's injured and staying on IR while the new team pays him.

We do all understand he's recovered from his injury and he's just using IR to hold out, right?

Basically he said he could have played this July.

Ever since then, it's been a hold-out for a big new contract, not recovering from an injury.

If he gets the big new contract from someone else, then his injury will magically disapper.

The problem for the new team is the idea of paying top dollar long term for a 31 year old CB coming off a major injury.

It could be OK, or it could be Darelle Revis in his last Jete season, or something in between.

Chances are it will not be DPOY-level play, but Gilmore is holding out for DPOY-level money.

Didn’t really give this one much thought before you hit “Post Reply,” did you? Who cares if he goes to Tampa? We won’t see them again unless both teams make the Super Bowl. He’d be in the NFC and, as it stands now, would impact games that would take place against OTHER division rivals. I’d rather see him not go back to Buffalo, the Jets, Miami, Ravens, Chiefs, Chargers, Browns, Steelers, Raiders, or Titans. Really, the only reason why anyone wouldn’t want to see him go to Tampa is if they’re not thinking big picture, care more about Bill’s legacy than the Patriots this year, or both.
Yet it is the "Bradyites" who are obsessed with Tampa.

I agree. I would think that whatever team thinks they can trade for him will want a try-out and medical before signing him. If Gilly doesn't agree, he just sits out like you said. That's why I believe it's more likely he ends up as a UFA and negotiates directly with teams.

that's what anyone would say to you......cuz, you know........

Belichick couldn’t get anything in return for a guy who was the nfls defensive player of the year 2 years ago lol

Gilmore getting traded or being released doesn't have much bearing on Buffalo winning the division because 1) Bill is not going to trade him there and 2) Gilmore already played in Buffalo and the likelihood of him signing there as a FA are low.
