NFL News Giants trade DT Dexter Lawrence to CIN for #10 pick

Honestly for us both choices are questionable. I really do not think that Brown should be a priority, he would help the offense but he is not a necessity
How is he at blocking? Is he too good for that or is he willing to get his hands dirty? Obviously he’s a deep threat and Maye would immediately have his binky. I think that would be good. But he already has some decent weapons. What he really needs is decent protection

Of course Brown isn't a necessity. And yes, he would help.

Oops, I missed your point.
A replacement for Diggs is a must have.

I cannot believe that some people here want to go into this season with this current WR group.

Same old story.

Dude is 29 looking to get a big payday and NY just traded him in on a shiny new player on a rookie contract that won't crash the cap.

AB J is in the same boat. F him and his BS.
AJ Brown isn’t asking for more money, he wants to go to better passing offense. He’s a WR, that’s not unreasonable. These two situations are not the same.

The Bungles got fleeced.

Don't get me wrong they need a DT, but the Giants and Lawrence were at an impasse.

You telling me you couldn't talk Harbaugh down to a 2nd or even a 3rd?

I think teams are moving away from long term management into more focus on "windows to compete". Only one team can win it each year and you have to really load the roster up to be that team. If you try to manage for the long haul, you're like to be a bridesmaid, never a bride IMO. Once you've identified that you have the right QB and enough around him to start pushing chips, in you really gotta go for it - more aggressive contract structures, paying higher trade comp for players, etc.

That's driving prices up on guys league wide. CINC has the QB and they have good pieces in place, so they're being aggressive going for the rest. Part of it is that they're not just trying to compete for a title, but also compete enough so that Burrow doesn't demand out.

Because he already got paid.

His contract comes with him unless the Eagles take some of the pain away.

It's a team sport. Just having the QB and WR pieces right isn't enough.

CIN's OL situation is terrible. They are going nowhere. This was a dumb trade.

Just because the Giants fleeced the Bengals doesn’t mean the Eagles are going to fleece us for Brown.

My fear is that the crisis management team will insist that AJB is acquired even at the cost of our 2027 1ST-rounder PLUS BootyTime...
I'm giving the Fecals only our 2nd-rounder, period. No BootyTime for them.

Seems like a lot for this older player.

He's probably better than any other DT they could add in this draft, so I understand giving up the 10th overall pick. The value of drafting a top player, though, is that the performance far exceeds the compensation. Adding a huge contract undercuts the move, though I'm a big fan of Dexter Lawrence. He can be transformational in the middle of a DL.

But in the end, this is still the Bengals we're talking about lol.

Dexter Lawrence already got paid, but he wants a pay raise. Brown is not asking for more money.

Apples/oranges…. plus the Pats aren’t (better not) trading a first.
Why on earth would ABJ ask for more? He is scheduled to get 29 million in guaranteed salary for 2026. His contract is entering year 3.

Lawrence was at the end of his contract because the deal he signed in 2023 expires in 2026.

I applaud the bengals for being bold on this trade!

I think Lawrence fills a need with a quality and the number 10 pick this year would be a late 1st round pick in a real draft year!
