NFL News Giants trade DT Dexter Lawrence to CIN for #10 pick

Share the latest NFL news from around the league here.
Are the giants masking the playoffs next year? Damn.

If they get styles that seems like a patrick Willis like addition to their team. Maybe hyperbole but styles has crazy measurements and seems like a stud in leadership skills. These are the types of dudes that change teams attitudes along with cam and his interpersonal skills.

Plus at #10? Maybe just find a replacement for Dexter. I'm hyping myself up for a giants playoff run.

There's actually a small part of me that's surprised we've yet to have someone rant in this thread about how the Pats should have been in on this trade if all it cost was a 1st round pick, completely ignoring that pick is 21 spots lower.

Our 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4ths would have lower value.

Kind of makes me wonder if Barmore is worth a late second

His trade value came up a lot at the meetings. The consensus was a late day three pick or pick swap because of character and legal concerns and despite the talent.

Just because the Giants fleeced the Bengals doesn’t mean the Eagles are going to fleece us for Brown.
I don't think the Bengals got fleeced and don't really understand why everyone seems to think so. Please splain

That tracks. Same reason I’d consider moving him is the reason he wouldn’t be worth much. Dude has “headcase who will eventually do something a lawyer can’t clean up” written all over him. Loads of talent…also loads of red flags.

What I am getting at is if the Eagles try and use this trade as justification for THEIR 29 year old player also being worth a 1st round pick.

Expensive cost for 3 years on a team where - personally - I don't think it matters who you toss onto that defense, until you address coaching. Not a valuable draft, either, but, eh. I think Dexter is the answer to a red herring rather than the actual issue.

Folks here want to trade for Lawrence.

CIN gave more than the value of all of our draft picks (all of our picks are worth #13). Would that have been a good deal for the patriots?

Not for us given that we have Barmore and Williams. The Bengals gave up #10 for a multi pro bowl game wreaker and that player will make a bigger impact for them than the 10th pick I imagine, but if they want to tie up all of their money on 5 players then thats on them but as a whole I think it was a decent trade for both sides.

I am of the opinion that if we give up more the a 2nd for Brown we got fleeced.

Interesting article.

Barnwell suggests the deals for Micah Parsons and Quinnen Williams, the failed Crosby one, and now this one shows that teams are now willing to give up first round draft picks for players approaching 30 on their second contracts and needing a third contract soon.

He suggests the Cowboy's deal for Williams was the real trigger, and notes that last season the Bengals wanted a 1st for Hendrickson but couldn't get one so this seems to represent a shift in the market price for such players.

He also suggests, albeit in his usual neutral tone, that he's concerned that these are all over-pays. You are getting proven experience instead of speculating on a rookie, but you're also getting miles on the tires, with no idea how long till the tire goes flat. You're giving up rookie scale contracts and up to five years of control and instead of all that you have to give out top-of-market contracts.

He says the Rams scheme of trading firsts for players isn't a comp, since those were typically players coming off their first contracts, not their second contracts, also typicaly early/mid 20s instead of late 20s. The Matthew Stafford deal is of course an exception to the rule.

Yet he suggests the trend is that teams are willing to give up 1sts for such players suggests Philly will stand firm on feeling the need to have at least a 1st for AJ Brown.

Let's see: our entire draft for Lawrence or a future 25-32 draft choice for Brown.
hmm, tough choice!

Honestly for us both choices are questionable. I really do not think that Brown should be a priority, he would help the offense but he is not a necessity
