With them losing Prince, it would be more logical to offer them someone like Meriweather for Osi and a 3rd round conditional pick than to trade them Hernandez...
Hernandez is a freak player who if he develops is a nasty TE/WR combo with ridiculous skills. I think he's still going to be one of the youngest players in the NFL next year with a lot of improvement ahead of him... His potential is off the charts.
Osi is a proven commodity with a couple of good years chasing down QBs ahead of him, He'd be the best DE on the team by a fair margin and help in an area the Pats have been lacking at in the past.
I think the Patriots have been peicing together a solid D-line without breaking the bank. They've put some talent on the line who have a past history of being able to at least disrupt the QB. It won't be a dominating pass rush but the way the Pats have built the D I do think they'll be harassing the QB a hell of a lot more than last season
Trading Welker at least makes sense. With two WRs better than him on the roster and two TEs as an important part of the offense, his playing time is going to go way down. He's 30, and he's in the last year of his contract.
Hernandez, on the other hand, looks to see his playing time go way up. He's one of the premiere receivers out of the TE position, and teams will have to worry about Gronkowski too.
Actually the idea of trading Hernandez is genius compared to the idea of trading Welker, which aside from trading Brady is the stupidest idea anyone has offered has come up with. The Patriots are looking to win a championship this year and you want to get rid of Brady's favorite weapon and that is flat out crazy.
