Getting to Gillette Stadium on Sunday

Hi everyone,

I’m attending my first game at Gillette Stadium this weekend from the UK. I’d like to get to the stadium early to have a look around and take in the atmosphere, but game day public transport from Boston is not making that very easy, and taxis from the city are so expensive.

I was wondering if anybody here might be able to help out please. I would not be expecting a free ride by the way.

The consensus seems to be to avoid the train unless you have no other option.

Commuter rail from South station to Walpole...NOT THE PATS TRAIN.....Uber from Walpole Commuter rail to Congregational Church (I think) at Washington St/Water St. Walk on Water St to Rt 1, Walk down Rt 1 to stadium....only about a 15 min walk from the church...same thing going back to Boston... Very simple...

Why do you guys not like the pats train? I’ve never had an issue with it. My only gripe is that it doesn’t get there earlier.

I usually park for $20 or $30 and walk. Train if I want to avoid the walk

The train is maddeningly slow and has gotten me there late enough to miss the kick off.

Plus, public transportation is for suckers. I prefer to take my private train.

Transportation is for suckers only way to attend Gillette is to buy your house within walking distance.

I usually leave my house a little before an hour. Get to seats just as TB12 comes out for warm-ups. Then back in time to catch BBs press conference.

The Pats train has been known to run very late in both directions. I missed part of the first quarter once years ago because of that damn thing. Never again.

No time to tailgate or hang out before or after the game, and it's often late and very crowded.

Just beware that Massachusetts drivers do not signal when they change lanes or when they make turns.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take the MBTA to Walpole, then either catch a cab or walk to my hotel which is a few miles away near the stadium. No train until 11:19 to Walpole which is later than I would have liked, but in the words of Bill 'It is what it is'.

Renting a car is not an option as I don't drive.

I'm staying near the stadium because I have a date booked at the Patriots Hall of Fame on Monday morning, before heading back to New York.

Uber may be cheaper than a cab and gives you the flexiblity with getting to the stadium. On the way back you can Uber again or take the train?

don’t forget to bundle up and monitor the weather report. it supposed to rain on Sunday. enjoy the game!
