I watched every game Geno played with WVU, a good many of them live. One thing that didn't get talked about during the draft is his fragility. I don't mean physically, because he is a very good athlete, and doesn't get hurt. I mean emotionally. All it takes is one little thing to set him on a trail of despair.
Go back and watch how he reacted to the windy weather in the game at Texas Tech in his last season. He couldn't throw into the wind accurately, so he gave up on the game. Complete mental checkout. Sometimes it wouldn't take more than one dropped pass to get him off his game.
Geno is no different than most college football stars. They dominate garbage opposition and never adjust to the fact that they aren't so special when they get to the NFL. WVU players are really bad about this. You can still see Tavon Austin trying to use his speed and nothing more to make plays. Noel Devine quit on the Eagles because he didn't want to learn how to run block. Slaton had a good year, but refused to protect the ball. Pat White refused to move away from the QB position. Edelman understood he was not an NFL QB. Pat White still refuses to switch positions. Cost him a career.
