Nah. He's going to be 27 before season end. If you're gonna take this guy while giving up a R1 pick, then you want him under contract for 5 yrs. He's a good player, but I don't think he's "Him", a guy that warrants giving up a R1 pick.

There's still a lot of holes to fill on this roster. Drake has made the receivers all suddenly look a lot better. Imagine that, right? A good QB that is ascending raises the level of the wideouts. Who knew? I'm not suggesting they stand pat, pun intended. I think they need to be very selective about giving up a R1 pick at this point. The guy they do that for needs to be The Guy, no matter the position.
I get it dude: Maye has it his throws are money. I heard Vrabel say: we Coach him to place the Football only where his receivers can get it. You clearly see that on tape. That's how QB's make Receivers around them better. Maye and Boutte have had some lethal connections already. I realize too Maye understands leverage especially when the Defenders are leaning one way or another. You don't have to scheme guys open for Maye: because he can go through his progressions and find them. The sign of a very good QB.

Who remembers when Travis Hunter was going to revolutionize football?

Things can change but as of today basically got an average 5th round WR and an average 3rd/4th round CB for a QB style haul.

That's why even if we hadn't been Mayoed on the last day of the season, I never would've taken him either.

Whisperer?

Maybe 'whisperer' was a bit of an overstatement but I have been known to speak Steve on occasion. Sure it usually involves booze or food but I'd submit those are two of the fundamental building blocks of regular guy speak. Throw in sports and you're up to like over 90% of the basis of our shared language

I'd rather they get Romeo Doubs or Rashid Shaheed as FAs then spend draft capital on Waddle. Not that I don't like Waddle, like I said, he's good, but he's not Him. Gotta remember now, if things keep tracking the way they are, there's no reason to think that skill players won't come here.

Totally agree: don't rule that Guy out below in FA 2026 either. He's been somewhat injured; but when he's healthy he's really good. I heard he's going be activated this week or next.

Whoa, Mister Irrelevant is barely roster-worthy as a rookie??

Poor Cap'n, only 6 games in and you're already having to stretch to complain about this draft class. It seems only yesterday you were happily foaming with fury over Campbell, Woodson & co. Seriously, the draft went fabulously for a change. Enjoy it.

Mister Less-Than-Irrellevant isn't even Practice-Squad-worthy; or have you not noticed that our "depth" in the defensive backfield is, like, you know, Non-****ing-Existent? Or should I ass-ume that Kobe Minor was at the top of your best available DBs list at the end of the draft...?

And as for the draft itself, you mentioned Campbell, Woodson & co... Who exactly is "co."? Because we're not getting Jack ****ing Squat from Anyone Else in that class that went so ****ing "fabulously"... and Woodson's not even that good either... In fact, our entire Safeties room kinda ****ing Sucks.

Let's not even mention the last years Draft after Drake Maye *something stinks*. Some of those Stiffs can't even stick on a NFL Taxi Squad.

And yet, the very same m-m-morons who made those picks are still getting cut checks here...

Meet the New boss; same as the Old boss.

Talking about Simmons vs Campbell and posters who wanted Campbell to fail.
Thanks for getting me onto the right track.

TBH I cannot imagine being so into NFL draft drama that I'd want a Patriot player to fail just to justify my stance on a given draft pick.

On top of that, the NFL draft is a lottery. We think we know so much about these players, but in reality we don't. The players are young and immature. No one knows how they're going to handle the sudden wealth, the NFL-level competition, how they are going to fit into a given team's scheme, how they're going to respond to the coaches they have to work with, etc. Some just aren't going to make the transition well if at all.

Also, we as human beings in general suck at complexity. We look at the draft and say "Pick 3 better than Pick 4" and expect that to be true for circumstances and for all time. When it becomes not true we struggle to accept it.

The NFL has fed the beast magnificently. They know we get a sense of power when we are allowed to assign value to other people. They know we don't do well with more complexity than small integers. Therefore us getting to rank others 1-32 and fight about it when our opinions differ is pure gold. They cash in more and more each and every season.

It is such an oddity. In a country that thinks of itself as capitalist, allowing the worst teams to pick the best players is oddly socialist, yet we lap it up. It screws over the players because in an actual capitalist world they would be able to go with the highest bidder, but the NFL knows its rich owners can't help themselves but massively overpay young talent based on hype and conjecture. Similar issues with with the salary cap. Again, such an oddity in a society that keeps saying the answer to everything is unbridled capitalism, yet we get a salary cap which clearly is a fix for the problem that capitalism left unchecked leads to an intolerable level of unfairness.

I know, I know, I just wanna see 22 guys crash into each other on Sunday, spare me the lecture, but I can't help myself some times..

I thought there were 43 guys crashing into each other. No?

I'm seeing a lot of Himness in Diggs. Hopefully as he continues to recover and gain more confidence, we see even more of it.
I agree. I am not sure Waddle is exponentially better than Diggs to warrant a R1 expenditure. Truthfully, I think any really good, professional WR is going to exhibit that Himness (good word) tendency you talk about with Maye raising guys up.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Bills target Waddle. They need him a lot more than we do.

If I were a Brownies fan, I'd start thinking of ways to murder every important member of their ownership; because that's really the only cure for what truly ails them.
It'd be easier to pull off the murders if all of them got together in one place.

You wanted Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jaylin Polk. Not Drake Maye.

No he doesn't.

One of them is playing like one of the best left tackles in football ( Will Campbell), while the other is on milk cartons everywhere( Josh Simmons). Proving yet again that posters like the Captain, Sam, and Patsfan2 don't know what the **** they are talking about.

The weekly 'power rankings' that every football/sports website feels compelled to publish, because every one of their competitors write as well, can be mildly entertaining opinion pieces.

But to show how meaningless they are, just look how quickly some of these lists turned into a Freezing Cold Take in the matter of just two weeks.

1.) Buffalo Bills
2.) Philadelphia Eagles
3.) Detroit Lions
4.) LA Rams
5.) LA Chargers

They also had Tampa Bay #9, SF #13, Baltimore #14.
The Patriots were #21, behind Washington, Arizona and Chicago, among others.

Fox Sports similarly had the Bills-Eagles 1-2. I'll give them credit for placing Tampa Bay #6, but at the same time they still had the Ravens in their top-ten.

The Patriots were #24, behind Washington (16), Arizona (17), Chicago (19), Dallas, Cincinnati and Houston.

NFL.com was more of the same, with Washington at #11.

I kept track this week of a number of PRs and the numbers were strange.

Buffalo was ranked 3 and 10 in different rankings. Many of the others included;
Denver 6-15, Detroit 2-11.
Indiots 2-9, LA Rams 3-10, Pats 9-16, Jets 25-32.
Jaguars 9-17, Phi 4-12
SF 3-16 and Seattle 3-13. How can they be so far off?
