Considering Kraft has said he considered Brady like a second son, and Brady played a role in the increased value of the franchise, it would have felt natural for Kraft to allow Brady to own a small piece of the franchise.

I don't think Brady's endgame strategy is "to own a small piece". I think he wants to be the leading part of the main ownership group of an NFL team.

New England is not the place to go if that's your goal. No one knows the future but Las Vegas clearly presents a much better opportunity along those lines.
