I'm more interested in a JTripp speed type, than in ILB like Mosely. In fact a JTripp/KPL 4th round would be home run IMO
40 Times
CJ Mosley - 4.63
Jordan Tripp - 4.67
I must admit, I've never seen Tripp as a 'speed type' necessarily, more a rangy linebacker. I like him but we did look at two speed types in FA which would suggest we lean more towards Shazier/KPL. I would be fine with one of those plus Tripp however.
RB - I know that both Ridley and Vareen are FA's after this season, but so what. Whose to say we won't sign one or both next season. They certainly won't cost much. But RB's are so transferable these days and easily plugged in. Think about it. Blunt and Woodhead were both found on the scrap heap and flourished here. Is it really hard to believe that we couldn't replace both in next year's FA period or the draft if necessary. That being said, a late round RB would be fine with me.
This strikes me as a little short-sighted. As far as the QB goes, isn't it better to bring in someone that can learn the offence for a year before he becomes Brady's sole backup even if that means carrying three QBs for a season? Of course, signing Kenny Guiton as a UDFA and putting him on the practice squad is my preferred option but I do think they need a better plan than let's wait until they have to do something next off-season.
The same applies to running backs. I think it would be disastrous to risk having to re-sign Ridley and or Vereen either mid-season or at the end of the season. That gives all the leverage to Ridley and Vereen's agents because without either, we wouldn't have any RBs on the roster. Putting ourselves in such a situation would be foolhardy.
WR - Just too ridiculous to even comment on (and I know you agree )
I don't think BB does. It's the position group they've had the most contact with. And looking at those contacts, I wouldn't rule out a double dip because there's a clear clustering of their interest; a potential first round WR (they've had contact with six potential first round WRs) and an early day three speed receiver (six receivers that fit that description).
