Would you trade #4 for AJ Brown and pick 32?

I'm fine with helping the Eagles get their 3rd ring if it hastens the Patriots getting their 7th.
Nice way to put it. I like the general mentality.

What if this deal gets done and the Pats move up from 32 to nab Simmons (assuming he is their LT)?

Then, WR is fixed. NE still gets their OT and they keep the 2026 1st pick. Isn't that some chess vs checkers?

That's..pretty optimistic.
Not really. They have 8 games against teams that win 5 or fewer games and have dramatically improved the roster and coaching staff

There are some if's, but if Maye takes a Peyton Manning type 2nd year jump and they land some impact players on offense via the draft, they will be a playoff team and even knock off Buffalo out for the division title. Pats roster is already better than the Bills, but they just have the better QB today.

I don’t think it’s likely to expect a playoff spot, but to say it’s outlandish that they can sniff the 7th seed is simply untrue. The roster and coaching staff are already much better and the draft is still upcoming. Their schedule is bad.

The Pats GM should be fired if rejected this trade. A pick swap in a weak draft for one of the best WR's in the league when the Pats have had the worst WR groups since 2019 plus an additional 1st round
pick.

We throw around the phrase "Ist round pick" likes it's some kind of magical elixir, and that every player taken 1-32 should be an automatic long term starter and picking those who don't is a firing offense.

Well the truth of the matter is that most of us have been around long enough to be aware of the truism that most every player picked between around 12-40 is coming from the same player tier value wise. Some years that tier can be wider, some years a bit narrower, but you know what I'm talking about. Pretty much once we trade out of that top 10, we are picking in a lower tier.

This is a VERY weak draft of elite blue chip players. BUT it's a fairly deep draft at certain positions and 2nd and 3rd tier players. Lots of quality edge, WR, RB, DLmen to be had in the first 3 rounds.

But the fact remains that any #1's we might obtain are going to be in the late 20's or 30's and their value at that spot should be weighted in the light of their true value. Good prospects, no doubt, but no sure things

We are a playoff team this year.
I think we could be too, just depends how good the draft is. Wish I could make up my mind what to do with pick 4# though.

Maybe I'm wrong, but IMO, Pop needs to SEE the spot, get to the Spot, and SIT THERE...not move because he feels a bigger play is available.
Solution: SOLID (or better) OL (including backups). At least 1 WR from this draft that's NOT a short and/or exclusively a Slot WR (a Higgins, Ayomanor, Etc. type will do). A Week 1 Starting Caliber RB and the same regarding Dual-Threat/3rd Down RB.
Agreed. Is why I'm focusing on WRs who can get outside the numbers. We have guys thar can work underneath like pop. Undersized, quick and shifty guys excelled in the slot under Josh. Wes Welker was an all pro perennial 100 catch guy. We have a good RB room with rham and gibby. Watch what gibby can do in a real offense with Josh. I would like to take a back or course. But we have our workhorse in rham. Gibby is the 3rd down pass catching back out the backfield.

Our problems the last few seasons was the QB position and the roster. We've significantly up graded this team. With the draft and then picking up another veteran here or there I like us to be a playoff team next season. Would you ever think that our roster would be better than the bills.

We’ll see, but I’d pump the brakes on playoff talk. Lots of new players and coaches who will take time to jell, even though the talent level should be much better.

Tom,

If you look all around the NFL teams can become contenders in a matter of a season. What you have to look at is the QB position is finally settled after Cam, Mac and Zapp. We have already upgraded simply by the coaching. Kudos to RK for recognizing he made a mistake with Mayo. The Offseason program, mini and training camp is what allows the coaching staff and players to gell. So by week one a team knows exactly who they have entering the season. I watch alot of patriots media on YouTube where it's unfiltered and players are themselves. Marcus Jones, Milton Williams, pop and gonzo I've seen speak to media members they all said they are locked in and the feel around the organization feels good.

They of course will have to put In the work but I have us challenging Buffalo for the division this year.

Schedule is much more favorable this season. Ravens, KC, Buffalo are the only sure bets to likely be playoff teams in the AFC. However... we can challenge Houston, Chargers for a Berth.
Pittsburgh has no QB, Denver who knows. I just have faith in Vrabel that we will have a fierce competitive team this season.

With AJB yes.
Had 7 one score games last season they could have won with Jacoby Brissett in 5 of them... On defense this season:

Gonzo, landry, Williams, Davis, spillane, peppers, dugger, white, Barmore

On offense Drake, diggs, Henry, pop, Boutte rham and Gibson

If they lined today they could win a game.

Teams that were under .500 were in the Wild Card hunt in December. This Patriots team can definitely be in that hunt in December.
