Fields traded to Steelers

Think Pats dodged a bullet there…

In which way? The Mac years didn't end well, so it probably wouldn't have been any worse if we had drafted Fields. But I think there was 0% Wolf (or GM Kraft) was going to trade for Fields this offseason.

I think Fields matured since then cause while he was injuried he cheered the Most for the rook playing well in his place.

Looks like the smear campaign is on.

For sure, this is management trying to save some face. Though, to be fair, when you have the physical talent that Fields does and it never clicks, SOMETHING was wrong. It wouldn't surprise me if he never really took his year to year development seriously, and just kept trying to get by on his athleticism. But all speculation. Not going to go to bat for a team like the Bears who have never proven able to get a QB right. Good luck Caleb!

Fields is another example of the importance of the mental and leadership components of being a good NFL QB. I hope that Fields has learned and matured enough to beat out Wilson for the starting job.

Considering Trevor Lawrence was supposed to be a “generational talent” and only turned out okay, and the only other serviceable QB in the draft class is Davis Mills… the 2021 QB draft class was a total dud.

Man... that Steelers QB room has some real boom or bust potential. It's real cost effective, but there's no guarantee either of those guys is good enough, or willing to be the backup without making a stink. Would be a REAL shame if that Pittsburgh team imploded... real shame I tell ya...

I dunno, I'm not a Mac apologist but his rookie season was pretty good. For comparison Mac's rookie season he put up 22 TD's and 13 interceptions, Tua in his 4th year and a loaded roster put up 29 TD's and 14 interceptions. Not too shabby and sheesh, the Dolphins have one hell of a mediocre QB.

Mac was good for 13 weeks of football, then he turned into the pumpkin we saw for the remainder of that season and next two years.

Once teams had tape of him he was cooked... you people are confusing a good team for good QB play. That 2021 team ranked 8th in rushing attempts and 25th in passing attempts, they did a good job protecting Mac from himself. He still collapsed. He was never good.

If that's his attitude toward mentoring and coaching I'm guessing it wouldn't have gone well here either.

Yeah. I wonder if the Pats had any interest in him if he had been there when we drafted Mac. I sincerely doubt we had any this offseason considering the loose change he was traded to the Steelers for.

That's what happens when your developing QB runs into terrible coaching.

Mac sucked his rookie season after week 13 with perfect conditions and a “genius” offensive coordinator. You are being willfully ignorant of this because you have a BB sucks agenda to push.

Sometimes rookies just don’t work out, did BB ruin Ryan Mallet as well, how about Danny Etling? Also how did JimmyG and Brissett develop into solid players if Bill was some destroyer of QB’s?

Bill’s gone, move on with your life and let the hatred go… maybe do some yoga.

I don't hate Bill but I do hate terrible coaching. Like say...hiring two bozos completely out of their element to run his offense and work with his young QB. Or having the relationship with your young QB turn toxic by your own doing.

Bill may be the greatest of all time but he was not a good coach or GM the last few years. Truth hurts. And since when is McDaniels a "genius" offensive coordinator?

As for comparing someone like Jones to Ryan Mallett and Danny Etling... lol

You hate Bill, start there.

In three years Mac developed a reputation as a dirty player who would smack opponents in the junk, who would raise his cleats when he slid, who would whine and deflect blame, or point at his receivers on the field after he clearly overthrew them, who would miss defenders crowding the line at the snap, and who snuck up the backstairs to complain to his buddy who owned the team when things weren’t going his way.

It’s laughable that you and others believe Mac had the makings of a good leader of men, or that a coach has the ability to fix character flaws. Give us a break.

I hate arrogance that leads to debacles like Matt Patricia, offensive coordinator or Bailey Zappe, NFL starter.

And it's the head coach's responsibility to set him straight. That didn't happen.

Then blame the GM who drafted him. What was his name again?

You hated Bill long before 2022.

Coaches can’t fix character flaws. Should Andy Reid have taken Rashee Rice’s car keys away also? Good grief…
Then blame the GM who drafted him. What was his name again?
The collaboration station.

It's Wozzy. If you don't blindly defend everything Bill did for 24 years then "You hate Bill". He's weirdly overprotective of Bill.

This is what BB haters say when they're projecting.

Mac sucked, it had nothing to do with Bill.

BB lives rent-free in your brains.
