Field Goal Attempts vs. Going For It on 4th Down in SBLII

No grand plan needed. 2-3 calls pretty much sealed the deal. Overturning either TD would not have been well-received. The 25-point comeback was a great story.

Wait, are you saying the League Office deliberately set up a scenario where Goodell would be humiliated and booed off the stage in front of the world and Brady and the Patriots would be the heroes, even though they are despised by 31/32 fan bases ? Or are you saying that there are certain officials who just love a good story and plan these things on their own, without direction from the League?

Please respond. I am sincerely fascinated by your point of view on this. It is like peering into a strange but beautiful alternate universe.

John Breech* of CBS reported Gost struggled in warmups from 50+. Maybe that, plus the miss earlier played a role in the decision of going for it on 4th down.

* Son of Bengals long time kicker Jim Breech.

Yep, that's why I believe that Bill & Skippy decided to go into 4-Down mode after Dion Lewis gained 5 tough yards on 2nd/10. They didn't trust Gostkowski to make a 52-yard FG...on a dry synthetic surface...indoors...but they would've been better-served calling for two 3-yard gains instead of a WR pass to the QB and then a deep sideline pattern.
