Felger: 2016 Patriots not an "all-time Pats team", just winning during a "bad year for league"

See how you got all angry and wanted to disagree?

That's how they get the call-in lines to light up. Talk radio is a formula designed not to inform, but to cause aingst and outrage. True of political, sports - any talk radio.

Anger is like pornography. Lights up the same parts of your brain to engage you. Talk radio is anger porn.

Yep, and it's working here too. This thread's been up a day and a half now, and it's got 8 pages of people reacting to that d!ckhead and his nonsense ginned up specifically to generate angst and outrage. That d!ckhead is getting a big paycheck and laughing all the way to the bank just because people aren't smart enough to ignore him.

First, I said that the Cowboys defense was a significant weakness. Not that they had no defense. I think they have an average defense which is a significant weakness in the playoffs.
"You can look at every team other Pats that made the playoffs and point to at least one major weakness they have. You can go down the list (Steelers defense is mediocre, Dallas had no defense, the Seahawk's o-line is awful, the Falcons' defense is mediocre, etc.)." Rob729, post 79 of this thread (emphasis added by me)

That's cool how you said something then blatantly denied ever saying it, even though it is easily proven you are lying. Congratulations on being this forum's Roger Goodell.

Talk radio never lit up the part of me that porn did.

when i think of an all time team, i think of a team that gets to the superbowl.

in that case there are what 8 all time patriot rosters?

IMO this team ranks right up there with the other 7.

I guess this is the logical endgame of Shaughnessy's whole tomato-can theory that anyone who we beat, we beat because they suck. and anytime we lose it proves that we suck.

By that logic, if the Pats win it all, that must mean everyone sucked.

I think the real issue here is that the know-nothing sports media just can't wrap its head around what the Pats do best. Depth isn't sexy. Edelman and Hogan are a legit 1-2 duo at WR, but it's hard for people who don't know much about football to see them that way since they don't look the part and they haven't played that part in the past mostly. Lewis/White/Blount is as good a RB committee as you'll find in the NFL right now, but for whatever reason people are in no rush to acknowledge that. Our OL is stable and strong, but you know they don't know anything about that. They couldn't articulate the difference between our line and Minnesota's if their life depended on it.

McCourty and Butler are among the best in the league at their respective positions, but they still don't get credit for it among many in the local media. Chung, somehow, has become one of the better SSs in the NFL. I don't get it either, but it happened, and we're now three years in so I think we can acknowledge it's not a fluke and that's what he is. We don't have Collins or Jones, but we've replaced most/all of their production on a rotational basis. We may not have a dominant edge rusher, but Ninkovich, Long, Flowers, and even Sheard to a lesser extent all do their part. We get credit edge pressure. We've got the big guys inside to ensure that nobody consistently beats us at the LOS, starting with Branch's mid-late career renaissance here.

Bottom line: this offense is elite and the defense is at worst good. That makes you a SB contender any year.

people need to stop posting crap from this guy.

who cares really? no one puts asterisks on the strike-shortened seasons. a super bowl is a super bowl regardless level of play that year, the winner is all that is remembered.

How does responding to this post give Felger a paycheck? As long as you're not giving him any clicks, it doesn't matter how many people respond to this.

Oops. I guess I could let you monopolize all the stupid comments in this thread. I misspoke that they have no defense. I meant they have an average defense just like the Steelers although the Cowboys are better.

But based on the stats, I am still a better poster because I have a much lower stupid comment to post ratio.

You can't remember something you said yesterday but we're supposed to trust your "eye test" for things spanning the past several years? LOL!!!

Idiotic comments, indeed.

Felger sucks, some people think he's good because the rest of the sports media suck as bad or worse.

No we are supposed to count the teams with more than 12 wins this year and say it is clearly a great year of football.

Listen little boy. Any long standing member of this board will tell you that I have forgotten more about football than you will ever know.

Everyone who watched the NFL this year knows that the product was watered down and mediocre this year. No truly great teams. No truly great defenses. A lot bad to mediocre teams. We don't need your third grade level analysis of random and useless stats to tell us otherwise.

Sad but true. Very few media members produce insightful, well written articles anymore. Most just try to take the easy, lazy route: getting clicks by trolling
Let's be honest though, media members do that because the people want easy, lazy stories. It is a chicken or egg scenario with our news at the moment: did it get lazy because of us, or did we get lazy in our tastes because of it? If the media is going to recover its integrity, I think it starts with boycotting news groups that peddle garbage.

If Gronk is healthy and in beast mode, I'd say we would qualify as a great team. How do you stop an offense with him, Lewis, Edelman, Hogan, Bennett, etc. who can stretch the field, do the short play, physically dominate and more? As it stands, we have a very good team who are hungry. I'm not sure what is wrong about that...

I agree, and the fact that they kept winning without him shows just how good they really are.

Here's the thing about the a hole knee jerk contrarians like Felger, Borges, CHB, etc etc. is that they have Zero Credibility, ( to have Zero Credibility you have to match the baseline, which is set by Gary Tanguay)

They have, as a sect, literally been wrong for up to sixteen years running, depending on when they decided that being a contrarian a-hole was a good route to take, They exhausted whatever molecules of credibility they had long ago and now they just bloviate. So take heart in the fact that reality is the opposite of their a-hole knee jerk contrarianism. They suck, the Patriots are great. Tough sh.t for them.

Felger involved in porn videos?

Yea and its funny because as soon as football is over, Felger will magically become a know-it-all expert on Basketball... and then Hockey.. and then baseball.. etc.. In his world, he knows more about each sport than the Bill Belichick equivalent for each of the sports.

Bottom line, he will continue this type of charade until people stop tuning in and stop posting his drivel in threads like this that hit 6+ pages
In denigrating the Falcons team and their accomplishments, Felger sounds precisely like...critics of the Patriots circa 1985. In a typically ignorant, stupid discussion of dynasties, Felger dismisses the old Celtics due to fewer games played and supposed lack of competition. His drivel/rantings are embraced and agreed with by a very large segment of the population; so you must accept that most people are ignorant and uneducated, on most subjects including sports.

I made the mistake of forgetting what wrote. You made the mistake of showing you know absolutely nothing about football or statistics showing anyone reading this thread what an idiot you are.

I will go on from this still being one of the more respected members on this board. You will go on as the idiot who claimed the quality of play this season was good because of the number of teams with 12 or more wins.

Have your moment. It will be short lived.

If the Pats had Gronk, I agree that the Pats would probably have a truly great team. Unfortunately, they don't. Even if they lose in a week, I would still say they were the best team in a down year for the League which still makes them a very good team.
