i agree w/ u man...but thats what gets me most...

if the pats themselves played better, if they took care and made no or few mistakes, then they would have won not only aginst pit, but also against the jets and colts, and we would be 10-2

I agree with the first post, wholeheartedly.
As for 10-2 right now, I don't know about that, but we could easily be 9-3.

This last post is ignorant. Pit played one of their worst games sunday. You are making very large assumptions.

This is why other fans don't respect pats fans. You are not capable of being objective.

Yep-injuries, especially a rash of them, can affect your game planning, playcalling, DL/LB rotation, etc, etc.

You guys have to remember the '05 season when Rodney, the left side of your OL, etc got hit hard, and barely managed to win 10 games.

This team will likely win 10, maybe 11 when all is said and done.

You forgot Bruschi and the disaster that was DC E-rat Mangini; watching the D the first half of that season was nauseating. Ironically, it was Matt Schaub's performance against that Patriots D that got him his fat contract--and yet some people are saying Cassel screwed the pooch on Sunday.

Injuries are probably THE deciding factor in the NFL these days. We'd have at least two more wins and be leading the division if any combination of Brady/Adalius/Rodney/Wheatley/Maroney/Jordan were consistently healthy this season.

The talking heads, and trolls who are just haters, can badmouth this team, but this team hasn't lost 5 games due to being a bad team, they have lost 5 games due to being decimated with an incredible amount of injuries. I can't remember a team losing these type of players, and still making the playoffs. Bravo to our beloved Pats if they make it.

Frankly, I'm tired of hearing 'excuses' from people like you. If it's not weather, it's the D and it's the injured players. It seems to me that it has never been Cassel's fault because he can't run the O.

You use your excuses to make you feel better when our team fails to be in the playoff. It's really pathetic.

If you look at the first 5 games against WEAK teams, what do you see?

1- We ONLY lost TB.
2-We didn't SCORE a lot of points.
3-We lost some games.

What I try to say is we didn't play well against lousy teams in the begining BEFORE mentioned players were DOWN.

Pats are short on depth and missing key starters due to injury, that is a fact, but not an excuse for anything, it's simply life in the NFL.

Maybe we should all give Seattle a mulligan also, more or less the same situation?

I will say I am impressed with the season the Pats have had, a credit to BB and staff, but sorry no mulligan.

JMHO

Eh ... I don't know. That Pats only beat one team that they were underdogs to, and that was Week 2 @NYJ. (By kickoff @MIA, the Pats were slight favorites at most books.) They were favorites in all other contests that they won.

Had they beat one of Indy, Pitt, or NY, I'd be much more impressed. Only a homer would argue that NE has benefited from an easy schedule. They are a good team that has beaten the teams they are supposed to beat; great teams win as underdogs and in tough spots.

Given the schedule, post-Brady any realistic Pats fan should have expected 10-6, 11-5 at best, and that's what they are on track for. Nothing to hang your hand in shame about, but certainly nothing to beat your chest about either ..

When teams lose their key players, especially when it's a quality quarterback, coaches and GMs often DO get a mulligan, because it is understood that such losses can be devastating to the team. Take Peyton out of the Colts lineup, you've got an awful team. The Cowboys without Romo.... 'nuff said. Hell, you Jets fans should know that full well because of the Testaverde injury, in 1999 as I recall.

Yes, they still play the games, and yes you have to move on, but let's not go overboard with the "not an excuse for anything" stuff.

the steelers did not play all that great, but you don't have to when you get to push and hit your opponent around they way they did to the pats

the team that is being currently fielded lacks experience and heart..........

I hear you Deus, I just have a different outlook.

Like I say, I am impressed with the Pats season considering they lost Brady and others.

Jets have had key injuries in the past and I am not asking or granting any mulligan for them either.

The Tank Williams injury was a blessing in disguise, it forced the coaches to put in more time developing Gary Guyton as a Nickelbacker. That's a dividend that will be paying off for awhile.

To be the Best, you must beat the Best.
They did not beat Brady. End of story.
