ESPN 7 round draft - thoughts?

that is reasonable, rational argument.

About bust rates though - how many WR's are on any given teams roster? 5, 6? maybe more? How many LT's? 1, 2 if you are lucky? statistically, you are more likely to reach on a LT than you are a WR due to the scarcity of players... ie its harder to find a good left tackle than it is to find a good WR...

does campbell have his work cut out for him? yes he does... but then again, the NFL isnt going to lay down for Travis Hunter... He's got his work cut out for him too if he wants to be a success...
Agreed, this is all good food for thought. From a Pats fan perspective, we were spoiled with many years of stability at tackle, Light, Vollmer, even Solder (who was not all that great), a couple good years from Trent Brown, only to see it all dissipate with Wynn and the rest. Now we dread the position.

At least at WR they've made do with FAs and the few guys who panned out.

Love Hunter in the 1st and Conerly Jr. in the 2nd (which in reality we'd have to trade back into the 1st Round to get). After that, not so much. I'd rather trade all of our mid to late Round Picks (and even some late round picks in next years draft), to come away with (in addition to Hunter and Conerly Jr.), Jayden Higgins, a SOLID RB (A "Workhorse"/Dual Threat type), a promising TE prospect, and JJ Pegues as a FB/Goal-Line Back/Emergency DL. Get those guys/types, and I don't care whoever else they get. Although a young and promising Center and Trapilo as a ST/Future RT would be very nice.

Agreed

1st round - Hunter
Trade up to late 1st - Conerly ( 2nd + Atlanta 3rd + 4th)
Our 3rd - TE or RB

Trade up to 4th - TE or RB

I would be okay if we just make 4 draft picks .

Conerly is more polished than Membou, Simmons, Banks and others. The only one who is more ready is Campbell.
Seems to be a good athlete, his length is good but not great. Leaving school as a junior I think he needs to get stronger, a full year in a pro strength and conditioning program would help him. That’s where he differs from Membou or Campbell, those guys are strong.

Hunter and a Tackle and everything else is paving the way for the playoffs.

Hunter and Conerly are great.
Would much rather build up the DL or even interior OL than the 3rd round WR.
On the board still:
T.J. Sanders
Shamar Turner
Jordan Phillips
Jordan Burch

Rather go with Jack Sawyer or Kyle Kennard at Edge as well

I would like to see more OL picks in this draft after taking Hunter; there are lots of holes to fill and depth to be added.

If Carter drops to 4, then trade down and get a top WR and OL with the compensation. We should be able to get a boatload of picks for Carter.

Wolf has to adhere to best player available on day 1!
We really need 2 offensive tackles early on this draft!

Agreed

1st round - Hunter
Trade up to late 1st - Conerly ( 2nd + Atlanta 3rd + 4th)
Our 3rd - TE or RB

Trade up to 4th - TE or RB

It's funny. Earlier this year I had stated that I would have traded every pick in last year's draft if it meant that we only came away with Drake Maye, Xavier Leggette, and Braelon Allen. So yes, if we came away with just 4 to 5 players who kicked butt or at least showed serious promise at the positions of LT, WR, RB, TE, ST/RT, I'd be ecstatic!

I prioritize Drake Mayes health over Travis Henry's potential production in the NFL

ymmv
do you mean if travis hunter married hunter henry ? or hunter henry could be hunter hunter.

I wouldn't think that our 3 7ths and a 5th will get you into the 4th for your second pick.

A somewhat better strategy is to sign a free agent RB or two at any point before the season starts.

Hunter, Connerly and TE would be a very good draft.

However, I suspect that we get more long-term value by trading down a bit and taking a starting LT.

Hunter/Conerly/Arroyo/Skattebo to me would be about as big of a 'hit' on the draft as you could get, and I'd consider them a playoff contender at that point.

Hunter will not be there at 4.
Let’s see plan B

I can see a trade down to 6-10 and taking Campbell

If Hunter is there you take him and I’ll be happy. So I’m good with that.

Early round 2 OL I’m good with that, won’t pretend to know anything about him. Just what I’ve read in quick reads he has “room to develop” which means he’s not a day one starter. I’d love the #2 pick to at least be so good (at the worst position on your team) to be your “likely” starter going into week one, but if he’s the best available he’s the best available.

He apparently used to be a running back on HS which sounds terrifying
