ESPN 7 round draft - thoughts?

No......Round 1 and 2 were fine, the rest not so much.

That’s remarkably reasonable for the guy who last year had the Pats trading down to give Maye to the Vikings and settling for Rattler in the 4th as their only QB addition.

We need to double dip on OT this season. Hunter, conerly and trapillo and one RB would be my wishlist. This implies we trade out a lot from 4th and 5th rounds. No need to waste draft capital on wr outside of Hunter.

Not acceptable. I don't want a Left Tackle who is a project

I agree. Two safeties? No RB? The only day 3 pick i like is Seth McLaughlin in round 7, but i really cant see him lasting that long.

Going safety and linebacker late doesn’t make sense

NO on Hunter. so what that he played both ways. look at the kids he was playing against. nearly all of them won't be in the NFL. Yes he has talent, but he has far more downside that upside. let some other knucklehead GM trade a boatload of picks for the #4 to trade back a few spots.

Seems good to start.

Arguably the drafts best prospect in the 1st.

Filled the biggest need in the 2nd with a player reasonably slotted there.

X receiver (Bunter more of a Z) and EDGE in the 3rd address big needs.

Gets a little shaky after that in the 4th/5th with back to back SS types. Seems like poor fits, but maybe one or both could play FS?

The 7th round picks are whatever. Seem like reasonably picks.

If these same picks were selected in rounds 1-2-3, I’m afraid I’d land in the hospital after a feeble attempt performing a back flip like our backup QB.

I * thought * (I know I read it somewhere) that our biggest need now going on 3 years, was to solve the problems with our OT’s especially the one responsible for keeping the “franchise” upright. Rather than selecting one OT, I’d still be looking for the biggest, meanest, athletic humans who play the position in rounds 4-5. Even with J.C. himself (Josh Connerly of course) we still need additional improvement.

Mostly yes. Hunter is the dream scenario at 4. I’d be thrilled with Conerly at 38, a long term option at LT. Ayomanor at 69 seems redundant with Polk, who I think we have to hope gets a clean slate. Would rather that pick be used on another OL like Ersary or Trapilo or maybe one of the guards. The 4th round pick I would’ve preferred a RB like Bhayshul Tuten or Damien Martinez.

My opinion is Travis Hunter will primarily be a WR, and a likely #1 WR.
With Diggs and Boutte+Douglas etc, it seems a waste to draft a WR in the 3rd. Tackles Banks and Simmons in the 20's would be good trade up targets.

But if they are staying and drafting and end up Hunter and Conerly then fine, after that's a crap shoot anyways.
I'd rather look RB, center, safety or TE in 3rd as those positions are less valued and more likely to succeed coming out of the 3rd round, assuming there are players at those positions rated high enough.

there's several day two TEs and even a day 3 I'd love to see......

I don't think it'd be a "waste". Diggs' deal is likely only for 2 years, and wouldn't surprise me if there are outs after 1. Boutte and Douglas get propped up because they're the best we have but they're such "meh" players and each will be FAs in 2 years. Polk/Baker both looked like busts. None of those guys are Xs and Hunter might be more Z than X too.

I wouldn't run to draft a WR, but if the board dictates one I think it's welcome addition, particularly someone who projects as an X.

Just don't see room to make the roster. Diggs, Hollins, Boutte, Hunter, Douglas are in and then Bourne played well under Josh.
Just seems better options than hoping a guy can be the 6th or 7th wr this year over Polk and Baker and then somehow keep around until year 3.

Any decent kickers in this draft or are we bringing one in as an udfa? I give kudos to the writer. Simulating an entire draft with that many comments is no small feat.

They all are projects this draft
can't argue that. some players are greater development projects than others though

some have more experience at the job, and should be considered with the 4th overall pick. even moreso if we can trade back a bit.
