cant throw to him on every down... i would prefer not having my QB visit the medical tent, so I opt for the guy who will be there 100% of the offensive snaps... i get a LT is not a bright shiny new toy that will make us all, me included, say ooo, ahhh, look at that! ... what do they say? sometimes you have to take your medicine....

I don't think it'd be a "waste". Diggs' deal is likely only for 2 years, and wouldn't surprise me if there are outs after 1. Boutte and Douglas get propped up because they're the best we have but they're such "meh" players and each will be FAs in 2 years. Polk/Baker both looked like busts. None of those guys are Xs and Hunter might be more Z than X too.

I wouldn't run to draft a WR, but if the board dictates one I think it's welcome addition, particularly someone who projects as an X.

How will rookie get a chance to play and when they play they get outshined by vets and then we need to rinse and repeat again.

Get Hunter . That is enough. If you don't get Hunter then draft a X receiver in later rounds . This year is anyways experimentation. Just see if Boutte/Polk /baker / Douglas can amount to something . If 2 or 3 of these pan out we just need one wr 1 who can be drafted or traded next off-season. If Hunter is drafted na dbecimes wr 1 and 2 or 3 of receivers develop, we are all set for maye's rookie years.

If I get to the 3rd round with Hunter already in tow, there's no way I'm picking WR. In this mock's scenario I'd pick Ersery.

Getting both Hunter and Conerly would be a great draft for the Patriots. Conerly has all the qualities you want in a left tackle. They may need a veteran to start the season and give him some time to adjust to the NFL, but he’s really good prospect.

No shot Ersery lasts to the 3rd. He'll probably be there at 38.

We did, for a potentially generational qb. There's usually a MHJ or Hunter in every draft. You get a (theoretical) Maye once every 5 drafts.

I get prioritizing LT over Hunter if the LT is Penei Sewell level prospect, but there is none in this draft. Will Campbell is closer to being Peter Skoronski, who was taken by Vrabel to play tackle but was ultimately moved to guard during training camp. Campbell is projected on average to fall in the 10-15 range if the Pats don't take him at 4. Hunter is projected on average to go in the 2-5 range. IMO Hunter is a sure-fire star and the best player available. Campbell is the best OL in a weaker than usual class for OL. I'm okay with taking Campbell if Hunter and Carter are both off the board and they're trading down, because if you miss on Campbell on the way down you don't miss much with Membou, Banks, and Simmons as options as well.

Winning the Super Bowl eventually is the #1 thing. A top #WR is hard to come by, and tackles are just as hard to come by. But I feel infinitely more confident in Hunter panning out than I do Campbell. Campbell has his work cut out for him and the bust rate of tackles taken early is high. Not so WRs.

that is reasonable, rational argument.

About bust rates though - how many WR's are on any given teams roster? 5, 6? maybe more? How many LT's? 1, 2 if you are lucky? statistically, you are more likely to reach on a LT than you are a WR due to the scarcity of players... ie its harder to find a good left tackle than it is to find a good WR...

does campbell have his work cut out for him? yes he does... but then again, the NFL isnt going to lay down for Travis Hunter... He's got his work cut out for him too if he wants to be a success...

The pick I disagree with the most is Emanuyor whatever we have similar guys in Polk and Bourne, I would draft Bond, Or DL or OT.
