How could Roberts be kept on IR when he wasn't injured?

Because the Pats waived him with an injury designation. Which meant if he cleared waivers he would have been put on the Pats IR list

Always nice to add size to the CBs.

Less than 4 days ago, Adam Caplan tweeted that Philly might be willing to take a 5th- or even a 6th-rounder for Rowe; yet there goes Bill again, over-paying for players already one foot out the door of
their former team.

So now Bill, where the FECK is our help at outside-the-hashes, keep-Safeties-honest WR, between-the-Tackles RB, backup LT, backup LG, and Cannonfodder/Phlegming replacements?

I don't think we need that type of WR any more. It would be nice, but certainly not a need. I have high hopes for Mitchell though (not a Moss/Julio Jones type obviously) but I think him and Hogan can be good enough for the occasional deep threat reception.

As for ignoring the RB and OT positions in free agency and the draft, those were arguably 2 of the biggest holes and question marks in the off-season and it still remains that way right now. Very confused by that.

Anyway, do you have the tweet saying Philly would take a 5th-6th? I searched his profile and can't find it:

Why doesn't Philly want him?

  1. He was lousy last year
  2. He was lousy in this year's offseason
  3. He's a Chip Kelly pick

Because the Pats waived him with an injury designation. Which meant if he cleared waivers he would have been put on the Pats IR list
where did you hear that?

There just aren't many CB prospects with actually football skills who stand 6'1" with 3.97/6.70 quickness. When they do come along, they generally don't make it past the first 2 rounds of the draft. So despite Philly's disenchantment with Rowe, spending a 4th seems like a very worthwhile gamble. Welcome aboard!

Is it fair to ask tom Brady at 40 years old in 2017 to make everyone around him better? Perhaps we should go out and get young highly drafted playmakers to help take a load off an aging Brady so he doesn't have to put the ball on a dime every single time.
BB did that as he rebuilt the Defense; but now he has been rebuilding the Offense, QBs, OTs, WRs, TEs, IOL Guards and Tackles, and soon 2017 RBs and OTs, again. Awesome to watch him work.

When's the last time the patriots have drafted an offensive playmaker for Brady in round 1? I say we go RB or WR round 1 next year. Blount Edelman and Amendola all on the wrong side of 30

If OT, isn't our 1st priority next year, I'll be shocked.

Actually, it becomes a 4th if Rowe injures himself getting off the airplane.

Or am I confusing the Rowe trade with the one where Philly traded Bradford to Minnesota?

You mean when Bradford injures himself.... To give up a king's ransom for a guy who is injury prone ( to be kind)..........sorry OT there....

Jeff Howe droppin' science.

As things stand today, I agree. 7 months is a long time of course though; if Hightower, Collins, and Sheard all walk - or even if any combination of them walk - that changes the landscape dramatically.

If that happens the Pats'll have about $60-$70m in cap space to spend.

Rowe allowed a 80.3 passer rating last season when targeted, fifth-best by a rookie CB.

I mean he wasn't that bad and most of that was on account of him being left on island against Calvin Johnson

And for everyone criticizing Kline's play in '15, he played for 2 months with a shoulder that needed surgery. Cut him a break.

I get where Howe's going with this, but this is on the team/BB, not the fans. It's part of the downside of having an information lock down, just as opponents not knowing is part of the upside.

philly looks to be trading kline to another team already. what in the world, thats some nba type stuff.

The answer to your question should instruct going forward. There's s greater chance of the Pats doing Hard Knocks next year than there is of BB spending a first on a RB or WR.
