Well Karras would still be the 5th IOL and possibly 6th if Tre Jackson comes back from PUP, so while it says the team believes he belongs, I don't think its the basis for the trade.
Right now with Mason having a broken hand and cooper not having played al pre-season I would say he's a little bit higher on the pecking order. He is the guy behind Andrews regardless who is there. Reading inbetween the lines Tre Jacksons knee could be an issue for him in his career going forward. I would agree Karas wasn't the basis for the trade just inferring thy have confidence in him.

Do they really put him out there on Sunday?

Sure. But they can swap 3 corners around depending on the offensive personnel.
People are struggling to realize that starters don't play every snap in every situation, Rowe will be better against certain WRs...could also help against guys like Decker and Marshall on the Jets.

This move just as much about next year as it is this year.

Boy Philly is really delousing themselves of all things Chip Kelly.

Harmon and Ryan are FAs. I expect them to be gone. Rowe could fill in either spot.

I assume that the Pats will tender Malcolm but another team could come in and throw the Brinks truck at him. He could be gone too.

This team is screwed vs taller WRs.

Coleman cannot cover anyone on the outside and with Rowe's height, speed and 39" vertical they will at least be able to have someone who has the physical attributes to challenge taller receivers.

Kline was an OK backup. Anything more than that he was a liability. Sayo-nara

They'll be throwing a #1 pick to the Patriots too, then, as we'll undoubtedly tender him at that level.

We're no shorter in the secondary than we were last year before this trade. Same guys and height at CB wasn't high on the list of problems last year.

I have zero objection to losing Kline, as far as I'm concerned the question here is whether Rowe is worth a fourth round pick. I assume we're throwing a first-round tender on Butler, but you can never have too many CBs, especially with Logan Ryan hitting FA after this season and presumably being a goner.

Rowe's measurables are very good, but falling to 5th or 6th on the Eagles CB depth chart is concerning. Hopefully that's just a matter of system fit with the new coaching staff, and he can thrive here.

Miguel (@patscapv2) tweeted that the trade saves $1,093,188 in cap space this year and another $1,771,376 next year.

Why not? If they are playing man who cares.

He will only come in as a 4th corner, so maybe 5-10 snaps total. Wouldn't mind having his size out there in those situations.

It was more of rethorical but thanks for the answers anyway ...
I wonder if they heard the news in Arizona?
With Coleman struggling and Cyrus up and down a bit maybe this is just what the doctor ordered for some situations in AZ.

I think there were some plays vs taller receivers that if they had 6ft + would have been eliminated. Marshall had a couple. Decker had a handful. Thomas - while mostly shut down had a couple.

I think its a problem

4th rounder is quite a lot. Bill, Caserio, etc. must expect him to be a big contributor

Always wary about highlight reels but 1) he has good timing and technique turning back on the ball. 2) good tackler 3) get his hands in the receiver's bread basket. Seems like has good speed.

Here is footage from the opposite point if view (CJ fan footage vs Rowe as opposed to Rowe fan footage vs CJ)

It is. If he comes anywhere close to his highlight reel its a steal.

It is but considering Kline's market value is somewhere between the value of a can of soup and lint, they kinda need to pay it.

Wonder is going going to be starting at RG this week....must be good news on the injury front for both Cooper and Mason or at least one of them....either way, it's an upgrade over Kline.

ok after screaming and yelling for hour have some thoughts about Rowe an Pats.
He was safety in college and then converted to CB. He had really good combine and was behind only after Byron Jones. Really good 3cone. Goood tackler. So after Revis gone everyone mock CB to pats, but he ws gone in 2 rd, pats pick Jordan Richards.

I dont know if he will play safety because Harmon is FA or CB which is really needed. I think he ll play both cause versatily is probably key. Chung covering TY hilton, Mcourty on Tes etc.
But i know one thing for sure. Eagles sucked at secondary and teaching them so i think that he has pretty good chance to learn from Harmon, Ryan and co, who are film junkies and that ll help him a lot. And we should not forget that Revis was on our roster so he teached some valauble lessons.

I think coverage ability is more important than height. I'll take a 5'10" guy who covers well over a 6'1 guy who doesn't.
I think it's severely overrated. Very few passes are completed to receivers just because they can reach higher than a corner who is in good position.
