End of an era .. BB: These guys played like champions last night

After locker room exaltation "Not this team“ after DEN, big smiling high five-ing Rutgers party at the sidelines vs HOU and explicitly praising the team to the press last couple of weeks, he's now calling his team champions and the SB is 14 days away.. Is this an end of an era .. or is it just hard to hold back the love for this team..
I believe this is the team BB has been building his entire career. His core players are solid and totally devoted. The newcomers completely buy in. I believe Matthew Slater may be an illegitimate son (check that DNA). All of this happening when TB12 is getting his second wind. Knowing Gronkowski will be back next year. Wondering what he'll do with the Jimmy G picks. Having that hot blond on his arm and a kid following in his footsteps. These are pretty heady times for Coach.

and this moment..

Bill has said AFC East Champions and AFC Champions before so I don't necessarily think he is operating out of character.

I do agree that he seems a bit more unguarded in showing his affection and appreciation for this team. He kinda started doing that around the 2010 timeframe but not to this extent.

Theory: Hes a new grandfather. I can say that growing up my dad was awesome, loving, but a tough SOB on me. Now with granddaughters hes a walking pile of mush.

In all seriousness I think he just really loves this team and showing his appreciation and affection can be incredibly motivating for the troops.

One more game.

Belichick was simply acknowledging that they had won a championship. It's not the SB but it's still a significant achievement and the team has earned that title. I don't think anyone in their locker room confuses that with their ultimate goal, which is another Lombardi. This team is as balanced, healthy, and focused as any I can remember. They are really smart, execute at a really high level, and are physically and mentally a very tough team. The Falcons pose some real problems for them but I can't help but to feel that this Patriots team is going to be really hard to knock off. The Patriots have a better team and a much better coaching staff, and one that has a ton of big game experience and will bring that to bear.

I'm going to enjoy this as much as possible, it's rare air.

I've seen twitter comments about how the Falcons offense is unstoppable, ... Where I have seen that before. Oh yeah... People on this board will know exactly where we have heard that before.

I think his goal each season is to create a team that cares about and plays for each other, and sees that as essential to becoming a team that is emotionally and mentally rough and focused on playing as a team. I think his best teams share that quality and he really appreciates it when they pull together in that fashion. I think Collins was an obstacle to that and was setting an "every free agent for them self " dynamic in the locker room and he felt he had to get rid of him to get the team to start acting like a team. With all of their free agents I think Belichick saw many of them as more concerned with free agency and next year rather than playing their roles to achieve team success this season. I think he was able to change that dynamic midstream and that is why they are where they are now, staring right at a chance to hoist another Lombardi.

Hitler Goodell scoffed at that too.
