A point to consider is the effect that the Pats dumping Moss like this will have on our future free agent signings. There was a day when the most coveted free agents would come into Foxboro and listen to the Belichick talk and sign before leaving. However, those days are gone. After seeing what Belichick has done with Milloy, Law, Samuel, Seymour, Vrabel, Moss, A.Thomas etc. free agents will no longer be interested in coming here. Free agents are generally guys who are in the middle of their careers and if they know that they are going to wake up one day and get dumped or shipped off or treated like a piece of meat rather than like a man by Mr. Mad Scientist, then they are going to be very hesitant to come here. This is a growing problem by not having any personnel guys and having Belichick running around with unchecked authority to do what he wants when he wants.

The other side of the story is that Moss asked for a trade, then got moved to a legit contender in a deal that appears to be lackluster for the Patriots.

Or the free agent will go the highest bidder. Since most stories out there are saying he demanded a trade the Pats just did what he requested. I do not think this hurts in free agency.

They have to balance it against the deals we gave Brady and Wilfork. If the front office thinks you're worth the money they will pay you and you get the chance to be on this team, always a super bowl contender.

If they don't think you're worth the money and that's all that matters to you go find it elsewhere and see what you win. If they're allowed to treat the sport as a money making business then they can have no argument when front offices do the same.

Just my opinion but there isn't a player on your list who has gone on to better things since they left

An article the other day, mentioned how Vrabel was considering coming back. I don't think this will have any effect on free agency. Given the chance, most players would love to play for BB. That is not going to change.

I don't think the Pats are all that and then some for free agents as it is quite frankly. It's not like when this team was dominating opposing teams and the #1 team to win the next SB. Those days are long gone.

moss got over 3 years and lots of money here even though he was over 30 years old.

I see this place as an opportunity for any player seeking redemption and another big contract.

As long as we offer the $$$, players will want to play here

Why weren't we able to lure any in the last couple of years then? Why did Jason Taylor turn us down twice? It would be plain foolish to say that he couldn't help our most glaring weakness this year in a lack of a pass rusher.
