Edelman to Bucs?

From a football perspective, who knows if he could even make an NFL roster at this point? He hasn't played since week 6 of 2020, he wasn't necessarily a durable player to begin with, and the drops were piling up over his last couple of seasons. If I'm Tampa Bay I'm content with Russell Gage entering his prime seasons in the slot. I don't know, would Edelman be more productive than Jakobi at this point? I doubt it.

His knees are shot.

I love Jules, but I'd have loved for this to be true....we could have picked up a 4th or something....

Retired players can’t just decide to sign with new teams when they’re under contract with their original team. Should be an easy tip off.

The Patriots released him, though, so he could get the injury protection benefit under the CBA. If he did unretire he'd be a free agent.

Gronk did it. It happened very fast, couple of days before the draft.

Gronk was traded.

Sure, it was what he wanted, but he couldn't just come out of retirement and play with the Bucs without the Patriots agreeing to trade him first.

Phew, I almost had to write up a formal Mea Culpa to @Triumph
copy and paste it.

Give Edelman time. Brady is not going to give up that easy. Brady is running the show down there and Edelman wont even need to attend practice so long as he moves the chains.

Right, but an Edelman attempted comeback is not the most improbable idea.
Trainers and medical staff can work all kinds of miracles.

Says here that Edelmans contract was terminated. Wouldnt that mean that NE has no control over his rights? The Patriots can only control the rights of players under active contracts. Once that contract is expires that player is a Free Agent. I suppose the Pats could go after Edelman for dead money, but why beat a dead horse with a dead horse. BB would just let him go and move on.

Just waiting for someone to blame their own stupidity at not realising it was an April's Fool on Belichick, Kraft and the entire Pats organisation.

The Pats cut him with a "failed Physical" designation so he could collect another $2 million under the injury protection clause of the CBA. So yes, the Pats no longer hold his rights, but they did that so that Edelman could collect $2 mil, not something someone forgets the club did for him (unless your name is Brady ). His knees are gone, he now has to think about being able to walk for the rest of his life. He is not coming back.

Of course.
