Gilmore defended against Edelman on an end zone throw from from Brissett. Edelman didn't make the catch. He thought that Gilmore's coverage was too physical, so he tackled Gilmore, starting a fight. Of course, BOTH were thrown out of practice.

LESSON
One shouldn't mess with Edelman.

First fight go take a shower, next BB will make them use the union shirt

Wow, edelman is tough to cover. This bodes well for what Gilmore will bring to the team this year. :)

I think the Patriots D is going to be pretty tough to throw on especially on Third Downs. With Gilmore and Rowe outside Butler in the slot you're going to have a Tough time if you don't have an Elite WR.

So does the team levi Personal fines for fighting in practice? Always curious about that. Hopefully this won't cause friction between JE and Gilmore for an extended period of time.

There was DPI on the play no doubt but nothing that should of warranted a fight. I wonder what was said.

So does Gilmore.

I think that as long as they can stay professional, this is a good thing on the whole. I don't want Edelman to be happy when coverage shuts him down. But he needs to be professional. Fire is good, a forest fire is not so good.

I'm sure BB wasnt a fan of the fight but he loves the competition and defensive players pissing off the offensive ones.

IIRC Rodney did the same thing during his first camp. Everyone was out of sorts and BB loved it.

Edelman doesn't appreciate it when a defender does his job covering/tackling him. What's Gilmore supposed to do?

I love Edelman's feistiness but sometimes he takes it too far.

Totally - when he roughed up Kevin Faulk drawing the ire from Troy Brown and the rest of the offense. It was like Rodney handing out his business card.

A lot of times, fights spearhead a very physical (and thus, productive) practice. I can't imagine the team would fine either guy.

Belichick's fault for paying a former divisional opponent a giant salary instead of rewarding the in-house guy (Butler) who is deserving. No doubt this is the first of many signals to come from the team that Gilmore isn't fitting in or welcome.

Belichick's already lost the locker room, and his players hate their coach.

As long as it doesn't lead to broken orbitals sucker punches etc, left on the field and done with, it's heat of competition. BB diffuses the situation by getting them both out of there and clear their heads. It's a big tone setter and something all coaches should follow but don't cuz they don't want to upset their big stars.

We don't need Steve Smith and Bill Romanowski types ending peoples careers over petty bs.
