Many decisions can be delayed. For example, we can delay negotiating with Mayo, Amendola and/or Arrington. For free others, the team needs to sign them or they will be free agents (Fencer's thread addresses these situations). Of course, we can still sign players after they come onto the free agent market. For example, there is not particular reason to rush to sign Aiken, White or Ridley.

However, for some players, decisions need to be made more quickly.

BONUSES
There are several players who will receive major bonus (or have money guaranteed) if they are on the team under their current contracts on the last day of this season.
REVIS
SOLDER
BROWNER
WILFORK
GRONKOWSKI
NINKOVICH

FRANCHISE OR NOT
McCourty
Gostkowski

When is official last day of the NFL season ?

Ugh. There's going to be some heartbreaking moves.

At least they get a month to review. I know they have people on that fulltime, but some teams have been at this for over a month already.

BB is good at making these decisions. Even supposedly tense situations (Milloy, Branch, Seymour) have softened with time. The players get hurt right away, but eventually realize it was business, not personal.

Will BB and Vince have the Bruschi chat ? Time will tell.

Everyone knows the 1st person will be Revis. His cap hit is 25million!
I'd ask him to re-neg for a 4yr 14m/yr deal. 3yrs guaranteed. That is equal to the highest paid CBs.

After him, McCourty, and Gost. I think both wants to stay with NE.

Who to franchise? That is tough.

Gostkowski cap number if tagged would be $4.44m (2nd highest ever for a kicker). Why would he mind being tagged?

I think that the Pats will pick up the fifth year option on Solder.

I think that they just pay Gronk and Niko whatever they are owed, Browner too.

I think if they don't come to a long term deal with Revis,mother may indeed pay him the 20 million. I know that this is not optimal, but you keep him here, plus keep him away from the Jets or the Bills.

I would think that the Ghost would be a candidate for the franchise tag if a long term deal can not be reached.

$4.4 Mill thats a cheap Tag I can see the Patriots jumping all overt that...Ghost gets the Tag.

He kicked one FG in three playoff games. BB has been trying to get less and less emphasis on kickers. If the role diminishes any further. 4M might be a luxury. We can fink a kick-off specialist somewhere. Hell, we usually go for it on 4th down in FG territory anyway. McCourty>>>>>>>>>>>>>Gostkowski when it comes to this team. He's a great special teams player in addition to being a very good safety. Not great. Just very good.

What's the Safety tag number???

The safety tag number is dependent on the league number. It will be 6.713% of League Cap.
League Cap = 142m, Tag= 9,532,000
Cap=146m, Tag=9,801,000
Cap=150m Tag=10,070,000

He is easily a top 3 FS in the league if not 2nd best. He is an Elite FS and will get paid as one.

What are you smoking?

I don't smoke. You think he's better than very good?
