If anybody would get fired I thought it'd be their OC. Not saying the DC has been great but their offense has looked awful against teams like Cleveland and Pittsburgh who is getting run over by other teams.

Considering our track record I think we would be way better off signing FA secondary players with a few years track record. Even if we overpay them slightly it would still be cheaper than paying players who suck and we cut anyways. We suck at drafting them ... it is what it is Bill remember?

Ed Reed would look damn fine back there.

Two points:

1) This is the classic example of the Peter Principle - keep promoting someone into jobs for which they are increasingly unqualified. Castillo did a great job as the offensive line coach for 13 years. 5 NFC championship appearances and one Super Bowl.

This is like asking Dante Scarnecchia to become defensive coordinator - wait, that might work!

2) The Eagles are immolating after an increasing emotional year with Andy Reid's son's death at training camp and putting the fate of the team in the hands of Michael (The Human Turnover) Vick. Things get weird and the decision is to fire the DC. This thing is spiralling downward.

We got some problems in New England, but nothing like this.

3) An owner who stated that 8-8 won't cut it for the coach.....

One thing to be said for BB: imagine how apoplectic Pats fans would be if Andy Reid were head coach.

He has one of the best RBs in the league . . . and pretty much refuses to run the football.

I completely understand why guys like Dante Scarnecchia would not want to be a head coach. The average lifespan of a head coach has to be less than the average running back, and you have to deal with the media, the owner, etc

OC for Dante is an interesting question. We know he's tough and great with his players - they all talk about how he is relentless and gets the best out of them. He is also the best teacher on the coaching staff - everybody develops into a better lineman under him.

OC calls for play calling and reading opposing defenses in real time - a very different skill set.

Living in Philly for 25 years ( transplanted from the South Shore) I have seen how this organization is run. Lurie is a native Bostonian who tried to buy the Patriots. Reid is NOT a good (not great, not even good) game day coach. I watched a game vs Wash three years ago when they couldn't get a play in for a two point conversion. You're telling me they didn't have one in reserve???? It is embarrassing. He moves Castillo over from the OL where he was great, makes him a DC and now he's scapegoated because they didn't hire a defensive mind?? Please..........
The problem is not the front office ( watch what Banner does in Cleveland in a few years- he was forced out) as Roseman does a decent job as GM or the talent on the field (* except for QB- Foles should be starting) it's coaching......

All the Eagles problems are resolved. It's obvious that Castillo was the cause of Vick's turnover problems.

LOL. I'd rather have Foles than Vick any day of the week. Is it possible for the Pats to steal him to be Brady's backup and heir apparent? I'd toss in Mallett along with a 3rd rounder! ;-)

That is not what I said. Everyone who has a job, be it Brady, BB, you, me, everyone, should be afraid of loosing their job. In turn, they should work their ass off to keep it. I would bet Brady probably thinks the same way.

There's something called "self worth", and another thing called "work ethic". If you have either or both, you work your ass off even without fear of being fired. You work hard because it's the right thing to do and you take pride in what you do and how you do it. As a result it's far less likely you'll get fired (assuming the economy isn't shifting at the time).

Apparently you need to think you're about to be fired before you do a good job. You might want to work on that.

Funny thing is that their defense is good for 13th in the NFL !! What a strange move by Andy Reid. I have watched some of their games and the D was not the reason they have been losing. Wish BB would fire someone for our D play. Huh dont know who but someone is responsible. GO PATS.

Eagles D is 13th, but they have the talent to be Top 5. Maybe even better.

Maybe in the front seven but their secondary is suspect. Have you watched Nmandi play this year? He's not the same player he used to be...

I had the same thought when I watched one of their earlier games this year. It's hard to believe there was once a legitimate debate between him and Revis when I watched him in coverage (I believe two legitimate PI calls in short succession).

Stall tactic. Probably wasn't the right guy for the job but the genius that is Reid did what he always does, what he wanted to. Easier to can an unpopular coordinator than bench a QB you foolishly committed to making the face of your franchise alternative to Reid and extended for big money. Think it's finally time for a whole new set of faces for that franchise. Reid rode a legendary DC's coat tails for a long time. He's a poor decision maker in game and off the field and his teams have since Johnson's passing become a pure reflection of him. Over rated. Emotion driven. Unaccountable. The media has always spoken reverently about Reid and his no nonsense coaching style. LOL Total fabrication. He's played them like stringed instruments. Lurie too. He's another legend like Holomgren. And to some extent Parcell's. Opportunistic but unable to stand alone and succeed over time. They'll both be in a booth somewhere next season analyzing their peers...

Banner lost the power struggle to Reid in Philly, and subsequently resigned in the knowledge
that his friend Haslem had the inside track for the Browns ownership and if successful in its
pruchase, would then hire Banner to oversee football ops. I therefore very seriously doubt
that Reid would ever be a candidate to be their next HC.
