The greatest experience we had in that area, until my parents bought a place on Arlington Pond in Salem NH, was a place called Bella Vista in Windham NH. It was a tiered hill leading down to a lake and each tier allowed you to park your car with a bbq area right in back of your car. The earlier you got there the closer to the lake you'd be. Sometimes we'd go in a caravan with the cousins. It was fantastic.

I grew up in SE NH and never went there!
