Drake Maye Thread (Bills Forum)

You suggest that exposure only through TV is too narrow for a realistic evaluation (sure, makes sense) and then go on to suggest that online forums are legitimately representational of the fanbase overall?
Yeah, I'm a crazy man thinking exposing yourself to more voices in a community would give you a better overall picture of them. Rest assured I'm submitting myself for summary execution as we speak because of your flawless logic.

When they asked him what his wife had taught him, Allen replied, "that I'm more than just a football player."

I'm not saying the "it" is gone forever, but he looks to me like a guy who is tired of getting beaten up.
I don’t remember which player said it, but I think it was a baseball player (Stan Musial?), who said he knew it was time to retire when he was playing baseball and spending too much time thinking about things other than the game.

And the Award for the single most un-self-aware post of the year goes to…. <timpani>….

The Bills fan who wrote “we’ll see what happens in the playoffs”. Congratulations to that Bills fan for taking home the trophy for his complete lack of self awareness!! <applause> Of course, it’s now the only trophy they have out there in Buffalo….. <laughter>…. No but seriously folks…. I kid I kid….

I hate Bills fans because they haven't won jack **** but still crow on like they're the team in this division that has 6 Lombardis. There's being passionate about your team and then there's being delusional. We've got 6 rings, the Dolphins have a perfect season, **** even the Jest won something at some point in their otherwise miserable existence, but sitting my fat ass here at my desk I have just as many super bowl rings as their entire organization.

When our own fan base was proclaiming Brady was the GOAT after Super Bowl 39 I kept my powder dry, because Montana and Bradshaw both had 4 and winning Super Bowls is what actually matters in this game. I waited another decade before I passed judgment, these hicks haven't even won a conference championship in this window and they're already claiming Allen is the best QB in the league. Why? What has he won? What has he done when the pressure was on each and every time? He choked, that's what.

Too many people confuse talent with greatness. This is why I think Drake has the potential to be special, because he melds his natural talent with intelligence to elevate his game. He doesn't just rely on it to bail him out. He's an assassin, not a gunslinger.
Allen is a good quarterback but what have the Bills won? Division titles? Did that done that. Not impressive to me.

Yeah this isn't baseball or the Indianapolis Colts, you don't get a banner for winning the division. if you did The Notorious RKK would need to do another complete makeover of Gillette Stadium In order to be able to fit all of ours.

We would have so many we would have to hang them in the restrooms and no one would bat an eye since they just dont really matter. Unless thats the best you can do

Maybe we should put up AFC Finalist banners.

Watch this, it might change your mind.
He's *****ier than Mahomes.

Nah, I'm good.

Think of how many videos people could have made (and did make) about Tom taking different things and splicing them together to make him look like a *****.

I've watched Allen play dozens of games. I like the guy.

It's ok to enjoy good players regardless of the color of their laundry.

Nah, Pats fans would never behave like that...

In case you haven't heard, sports message boards are for debating opinions regarding sports. I'm well aware that you're above it all.

Looking down from your high pony, I stand by my opinion that Mahomes will never be the GOAT.

I can't feel any animosity for Bills fans, they've endured a lot and their glory days are also punch lines. Now they have something bad coming up on the horizon... Allen has about 5-6 years left, many of them won't be able to afford to see games in their new stadium, which means that these next 8-10 years might be the last of the NFL in Buffalo. When Allen is no longer Allen, or retires, they're going to be a loser with a half empty stadium in the NFL's 2nd smallest market, with an old owner. I can see the Bills getting sold and moving to a big market in less than 10 years.
In short, their good ol days are right now.
Partly because the beer and hotdog fan seating will now be luxury boxes.

In 2008 there were tentative plans to move the Bills over to Toronto where Global 500 companies have headquarters, but then the Great Recession hit.

The irony of the comments on that board are really funny like this gem "let's see how he does in the playoffs against better competition". Kind of like how Allen and Bills continually lose in the playoffs?

At least some other posters are giving them pushback on that stupid statement and give Maye credit.
Last Sunday, the Bills struggled to beat a 1 armed Aaron Rodgers.

Can you imagine a Bills GDT?

I think they experimented with a Bills home game every year in Toronto. They'll need a new stadium. I don't think Rogers Center/Skydome will work anymore for the NFL, it was dated so it was renovated and designed exclusively for baseball.

We have to recognize that the Bills own one of the most remarkable records in all of sports, one that may never be equalled let alone surpassed: losing 4 Super Bowls in row!

The a priori probability of any team just equalling that monstrous streak of disappointment in a 32-team NFL season is 1/32^3 or 1/32,768, so it won't recur unless the NFL lasts in its current form for tens of thousands of years!

So it would take about a million NFL seasons for us to expect to see that record broken. Truly remarkable!

The only record of greater statistically improbable futility I can think of is the Washington Generals vs the Harlem Globetrotters. And at least they have 1 win to offset their 17K losses.

Maybe the Bills should figure out how the Generals got that win.

Buffalo Bills -- the Washington Generals of the NFL!

As someone who started watching the Red Sox in '74, and lived through the '75 Series against the Big Red Machine, Bucky Freaking Dent, and Bill Buckner, I don't recall anyone giving me any slack for what I 'endured'.... **** the Billdos, says I. Losing close ones has its charm, but winning 6 Championships is far better.
