Drake Maye is the Most Valuable Player in the NFL

Patrick Mahomes.
No freakin way. Guy has more picks than games started. 10th in yards, 16th in QB rating with a top defense and one of the top 2-3 offensive coordinators

Why would you think he could be winning games on THIS team.

Patriot's skill players ranking coming into the season by most websites: 32nd
Actual 2024 Offensive line ranking: 32nd by a ton
Offensive coordinator ranking: At best in the 20's somewhere
Head Coach: Might be 32nd in the NFL

Worst skill players and worst line in the league coupled with below average OC and HC.
I don't think people realize how bad the talent and coaching is around Maye, and what Maye has to do to make plays. The windows he throws into are way tighter than almost any other QB. The time he has to throw is less than any other QB.

Not trading Maye for Mahomes is the same as the Luck for Brady chat we all laughed at that Felger and Mazz peddled around 2013.

I don't care what you say about Mahomes numbers this year and how much you like Maye, Mahomes is a top 3 QB of all time and isn't 30 if you wouldn't trade Maye for him you can't be taken seriously and have agendas.

And i like Drake and think he has the potential to be a top 5 QB but we're assuming a lot of things, no matter your situation with roster or coaching if you don't win double digit games you aren't in the discussion.

If you want to be considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league or "most valuable" you have to regularly win 10+ games and be in the playoffs, Drake is on a freebie this year cause of the disaster that the roster is but it doesn't last long you have to win games in the NFL or you're no longer the hot new thing you're 3 years in and have never been above .500, that's why this coaching situation is so dangerous.

Could it be?

Mahomes isn't even a top 3 QB in the NFL this year. Will be 30 before next season, and heavily relies on mobility.

-Since Mahomes supporting cast has deteriorated his play has gone downhill. We are not talking about 2018-2022 Mahomes, we are talking about 2023-2024 Mahomes. Talking about the guy averaging 248 yards a game this year vs 302 per game, the guy with a 92.2 rating vs 106. Int% from 1.6% now to 2.6%, TD % from 6.5% to 4.4%. Kelce is getting old and the supporting cast is weaker than he's had on offense. Luckily, he has the best defense of his career the last 2 years. He's still a great QB but he's not top 3 all-time great and we will see how KC rebuilds for the 2nd half of his career, Mahomes might never win another Super Bowl if KC can't start finding some elite players.
Brady, Manning, Brees top 3 all time.

-If you would trade Maye for Mahomes your just using emotion and not logic.

-I can't speak to the Luck for Brady deal in 2013 because I don't have the tape on Luck and Brady is completely different than Mahomes and Maye is completely different than Luck. It's not just age and potential franchise QB, it's the tape and the contract which today the QB contract is more important than 2013.

-Too bad you can't have everyone watch Mahomes tape this year and then watch Maye's tape this year without knowing who is who and see which QB people think is better after watching the tape. People would be surprised.

Mahomes has been dog **** this year.

KC still gets to the Superbowl because that's what happens.

Patrick has it. Until he stops having it I will not bet against him. Regardless of how bad he's been.

I wouldn't trade him for pretty much anyone right now, but hold up on MVP a bit for now. The Kid has a very bright future, and @Clonamery is correct, he could be the the 2nd best QB for this franchise. I just don't want to get too excited. He passes the eye test, for sure, but he's got a ways to go still. I certainly wish he had better coaching.

The funny thing is, you never want to be the guy who follows The Guy. Mac was the guy who followed Brady. Shut up about Cam Newton. Now we have the Next Guy. Good stuff. The same thing can be said for Bill and Mayo, me thinks.
Absolutely agree. I am so impressed with Drake because of his maturity and his leadership qualities. Young Brady had top notch coaching, a sound OL, a elite defense. Drake has NONE and he still makes plays when everything around him is a mess.

Is just me? But mahomes doesn't seem like the same player? As great as he is, he seems as if he is missing guys, making errant throws, and has a hard time getting away from pressure. It could be the injuries over the years could be catching up with him? He's had MCL and ankle issues over his career.

I don't get your knock your knock on Mahomes it almost seems like jealousy but to each his own. We'll see when the Postseason comes around: I will ask this about Drake Maye what if he Regresses under Mayo?? Some of our players have I am not going anoint Maye under this current regime.

Your right brother. But u know how it goes.. the HC/OC... gets the the praise and the critique on a QBs performance. Development or maye has alot of people jobs safe for now. Starting with wolfy..

I think it is his Offensive line, especially the tackles have gotten worse the last 2 years and Kelce has aged. His wide receivers have also gone downhill.
He's playing great with what he has and Reid is a really top-notch OC but teams know how to defend the system and KC just doesn't have the elite ball catchers they used to have.

Mahomes accuracy on some open guys has been kind of weird, not sure if he's rushing due to the poor line blocking but his accuracy is worse for some reason, unless it's the 4th quarter and he needs a score, then he's money.

I agree. His OL I saw the LT was benched. Didn't they just signed DJ Humphries? I always took issue with a HC calling plays.. why have a coordinator if the HC is going to call plays? Entrust the people you hired as a HC to do so. That's what hurt beinemy.

Love Mahomes! Herbert, Mahomes, Maye were the 3 best prospects I found going back a decade. He has a great arm, incredible playmaker. Has had the advantage of elite receivers and elite coaching and play-calling.
But he's not a great processor, that's why he does better with good receivers, good play calling. Put him on the Pats and I really wonder if he'd look any better than Maye.

Give me 1 game to win tomorrow, I take Mahomes over Maye.
Give me a guy for the next decade, I take Maye over Mahomes.

All that said, Mahomes tape is pretty mediocre for an elite player this year, but then he plays lights out when he needs it and his defense keeps them in games. Maybe he can turn it on for the playoffs like he does in the 4th Quarter but if they have to go to Buffalo, I take the Bills. Josh Allen is playing better then Mahomes this year.

This is based on Maye's 1 NFL win he has, surely.

Well Maye seems to be the MVP of this Pats team, which isn't saying a lot.
But, with such a bad OL, and very limited weapons, the fact that he hasn't sucked and has improved the guys around him is very impressive as a barely-22 year old.

Based on 100's of hours of studying QB's to see what makes a successful NFL QB and analyzing every throw Maye has made since college along with watching tons of tape of other QB's including Mahomes.

Wins? Justin Herbert sucked last year and went 5-8 but now he's good?
Baker Mayfield is 6-6 but playing some of the best QB in the NFL, how's that possible?
Judging QB's by wins alone, especially in a short sample size, is not a good way to judge. It's a team sport, 1 guy doesn't win or lose.

I've said before Mahomes will never have Brady's longevity so will not surpass him. Brady was such a professional he took great care of his body using alternative methods that worked better than the dinosaur team trainer methods.

TB12 said in his own words that hadn't he started training better and taking better care of his body he'd had been done by 30 as his shoulder was giving him issues. I can say emphatically Mahomes isn't playing into his late 30s into age 40.. Reid isn't coaching into his late 70s. The 2 goats we had for over two decades will never be seen again in the modern NFL era.

No one knew what Mahomes would do in the NFL.. reports from camp when he was a rookie was he was trash in camp. However as we all know he was drafted into a wonderful situation.. a creative offensive coach with weapons all around him. KC did the right thing for Mahomes earlier in his career to maximize him. I have to hope and pray the same thing happens for Drake!
