Drake Maye has arrived . . .

Maye had an incredible comeback against the Ravens and I am confident that he is going to be a star. But I find it somewhat concerning that he almost threw a pick at 3 min left in the 4th qtr. After that play he hit Diggs for the 20 yard gain on 4th down.

If the Baltimore player caught the Interception we would all still talk about how he makes bad decisions in crunch time. It just goes to show that luck is involved because drop changed the narrative.

All that to say please remember he is still a young player and will not always be perfect. Looking at everyone in the GDT. lol
Watch the play again, that INT would’ve been on Williams. I feel Maye probably thought Williams would’ve continued running further INSIDE on the slant, but it looks like Williams stopped his route.

I agree with you about the play, but I feel that the narrative would be very different if the pick happened.

How he corrects mistakes game to game is incredible. In the ills game, I was wondering why he did not pump fake Boza. He got into similar position in the Ravens game this time on the left and he did just that to run by the defender.

The point is that the Maye would've taken the blame by fans and media. The real blame should've been on the refs for the non PI call and it's not like the Pats were looking for flags. Boutte flat out beat his man and had Humphrey hanging on him like Eric Berry was all game with Gronk in the 2018 AFCCG. Those are the rare penalties that can make it too difficult for teams to overcome late in games.

Goes the other way too though. That hideous and blatant PI was not called.

Imo there are four categories of QB's in the league. Not going to include bad QB's. Not worth wasting time on.

Good (Lawrence, Purdy, Darnold, Dak)-can win a SB with them. Unlikely to carry a team all the way. A clear step or two above the Dalton line. I may be shortchanging Dak here. I would take him on a team with many pieces over Lawrence & Purdy.

Great/very good (Maye, Herbert,)-Have the look of QB's who could carry a team. However, need to prove it in the clutch (postseason, huge regular seasn games) more often. Obviously Maye has never been to the postseason until this year. Have physical gifts very few QB's possess.

Elite (Allen, Jackson, Burrow)-Have shown the ability to carry teams. Been in MVP conversations/won MVP consistently. No SB appearances/wins yet.

Class by himself (Mahomes and previously TB12)-Has won SB's. Consistently overcomes deficits in postseason games. Puts the fear of god into defenses when he has the ball with the game on the line. Ability to win SB's without great receivers. Rarely makes mistakes in key moments. Generational QB (not prospect that is different).

Drake Maye jersey's are flying off the shelves.

You know that on non called PI, he was also clearly tripped by Van Noy and ref let it go?

Rank em any way you want but there's one simple glaring fact:
Every. Single. GM and HC in the NFL would take Maye over every single qb in the league.
Yes that includes Buffalo and KC.
Nuff said

Ten rookie/sophomore QBs have taken 200+ snaps this season.

BAD this year: JJ "Nine" McCarthy, Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward
OK this year: Tyler Shough, Jayden Daniels (IR), Michael Penix Jr. (IR)
GOOD this year: Jaxson Dart, Caleb Williams, Bo Nix
DRAKE MAYE this year: Drake Maye
