Drake Maye has arrived . . .

I will like to know what he tried to do here? Was someone suppose to be at that point or just a flat out miss?

Drake Maye is Human not one of his better days Today: had a couple of near picks on some footballs.

On one hand I doubt Williams, but on the other hand it's hard to ignore how much his game has taken on more professional aspects. He's more comfy with the play-action, which demands more cerebral processing, turning your back to the defense and then coming out of that to quickly see your progression. He sits and holds onto the ball longer as their offensive is similar in depending on explosive passes. This is why I'm glad Maye is in a similar system, it forces you to learn a lot. Even Burrow, for as great as he is, is more uncomfortable in the play-action than he'd like (he has said this in interviews). He likes the shotgun for the ability to have your eyes always in front of you.

He's done a great job working with Williams. His completion rate isn't Maye's, but otherwise I'm having a harder and harder time criticizing him. I'll have to watch him closer soon.
Caleb is a great takent and his improvement under Ben Johnson has been remarkable. His scrambling ability and pocket escapability are second to none. He also has top tier arm strength. If you watch him play its hard to not be impressed and his leadership skils have also markedly improved. Williams, Daniels and Maye will all be top 10 qbs next year and for the foreseeable future

Caller on weei said Maye has been figured out the past few weeks.

I might stop listening to that station for many reasons

It honestly looked like he changed his mind on who he wanted to throw to in the middle of his release.

You'd have to ask him to know for sure though.
It almost seems like he was trying to lead Trey but maybe just overcooked it

I think he was going to Hooper and then saw that Henderson was also uncovered, and would have had Hooper as a blocker (in theory), and changed his mind as he was releasing the throw. The release was all sorts of weird.

It's crazy to think but this kid is 23.

He's still a Pup but he's running the kennel, and he still has so much to learn and so much room to grow.

That's gonna be one dangerous animal one day.

And the best they've managed is to just slow him down. He still turns into Dragonite Maye for about half a dozen plays a game.

He was pretty bad until the pick. I thought after that he played well though, maybe better than well.

I think the offensive struggles were mostly on Josh today. Pretty bad day especially in the red zone, happens to the best of em

Kinda impressive, though, that this is "not one of his better days," compared to the 2022-2024 seasons.
Maye hasn't had more than 1INT in a game since his 4th start (2 total). TB12 had 7 in his 1st 24 starts (to match Maye's starts), including 3 and 4INT stinkers. Maye's ability to bounce back is really impressive.

He is right, this is how they are figuring him out. See the strategy in this clip?

Lol at the comparison. I like the effort and appreciate the point but steroids or not nothing in sports will ever compare to Barry Bonds fear.

Just rewatched the game. Did not notice that Drake fumbled the ball on his first scramble. He was not credited with a fumble anywhere I have seen but that is why he stayed down for long in the first half when we were 10 down.
Luckily he bounced right on the ball. 2nd quarter 12:17 game clock is where it happened.
He fumbled, knee was not down.

This is not the worst take that I have heard on sports radio. It is to be expected that teams will game plan against Maye and that he will see things that confuse him. Even the best veteran QBs can be taken off their game by a good defensive strategy. The encouraging thing about Maye is that he is resilient enough and smart enough to figure out how to counteract struggles to make enough plays to get by when things aren't clicking. That said you should still stop listening to WEEI, LOL
