DL Trey Flowers getting recognition

He's played well but lets not over state it. He hasn't played at an all-pro or even pro bowl level. He has been very good though.

He absolutely has. No doubt about it.

Dante Fowler, #3 overall draft pick in 2015, is a pretty well known name among the majority of NFL fans.

2016-2017 stats (35 games, including playoffs):
... 58 total tackles .. 14 sacks .. 6 PD .. 2 FF .. 3 FR

Trey Flowers, #101 in that same draft, not so well known.

2016-2017 stats (35 games, including playoffs):
... 135 total tackles .. 17 sacks .. 5 PD .. 2 FF .. 2 FR

That looks great but what were the snap counts for each?

Pro bowl level, absolutely. He has completely blown away the jets’ leonard williams for example.

Can't wait to see the Trey Flowers-Derek Rivers combination blossom next season. #SackCity

it could be a line of Brown, Flowers, Rivers, Wise, Butler...then sub in/out as you please, all young guys too, only unproven after this year is Rivers

One more relevant comparison:

CONTRACTS:
Fowler - $5.87M APY (fully-guaranteed)
... 2017 cap = $6.41M ... 2018 cap = $7.47M
... 2019 = UFA unless his 5th-yr option is exercised by the Jags
(I haven't found an exact number for that option. However, the 5th-year option for DE Khalil Mack, drafted #5 overall in 2014, was $13.85M.)

Flowers - $710k APY
... 2017 cap = $755k ... 2018 cap = $845k
... 2019 = UFA unless extended

Pro Football Focus, not the most reliable source, had him rated as the highest graded player against Jacksonville.. do not want to argue about their arbitrary grades...

Refocused: New England Patriots 24, Jacksonville Jaguars 20 | NFL Analysis | Pro Football Focus

EDGE TREY FLOWERS, 91.4 OVERALL GRADE
One of the better, more underrated draft picks in Patriots recent memory, Flowers emerged as a force in 2016 but has taken his game to a new level this year. He has now amassed 12 combined sacks, hits and hurries and six run stops in the postseason.

Their top 5 grades for last Sunday's game..

TOP 5 GRADES:
Edge Trey Flowers, 91.4 overall grade

WR Danny Amendola, 86.8 overall grade

T Cameron Fleming, 85.4 overall grade

T Nate Solder, 81.8 overall grade

QB Tom Brady, 79.6 overall grade
