DL Mike Pennel and TE Matt LaCosse sign...

Yes on the receptions but apparently LaCosse can't block so that may affect the running game.

Agree...but we still have Develin, could use an extra tackle out there, or possibly pick up a blocking TE later. At minimum, he's an upgrade over Hollister....unless Hollister wows the pants off us in the off-season.

Guy, Pennel, Butler, plus the versatility in Bennett who can kick inside as well. Throw in another vet and draft pick(s) in rounds 1-3 , and that’s a pretty good group to work with heading into camp. Anything they can get out of Kamalu, Parry, and Herron would be a bonus.

Can't or doesn't?

Can't gets fixed. Doesn't gets cut.

For my two units of cuprous legal tender, LaCosse seems to have the body to block just fine. If he's willing to learn, there's no better place than here. If he isn't willing to learn, I don't think he'll last very long.

OUT: Flowers, Clayborn, Shelton, Brown
IN: Bennett, Pennell

It seems unlikely that this is an improvement.

We will use the draft asa we always do. Perhaps one of the 2-4 2019 contributors will be a defensive lineman, perhaps not.

MORE LIKELY, is that we will soon be adding another DL or two.

Of course not. You're comparing the whole outgoing talent pool with maybe half, or even less, of the incoming talent pool. It's either dishonest or foolish to try to make a straight comparison like this, and that's besides the fact that it ignores the possibility of incumbent players improving in their position.

???

I have addressed the DL, and noted that we are get worse at 2 positions (until we sign more players).

You say that I'm ignoring additional talent coming in. Bentley is the only additional talent coming in at other than DL.

You say that I am ignoring the POSSIBILITY that incumbents will play better. Some will, some are getting on in years and might be a bit less awesome.

You also ignore that the possibility that we might lose more players to injury compared to 2018.

Mammoth individual

I see what you did there. Very good.

It's one of the (many) things I like about the posters here. Above average intelligence, both with football and real life.

Guy Pennel inside penetration.

Something to look forward to getting announced by the broadcast team.

Worse at one position. Pennel is better and TBA should be better than the other two. Remember, two of your irreplaceable players were benched healthy halfway through the season and They made no attempt to sign Brown last year or this.

Don’t let him know anything about the system. We need at least one real player

Yes, I expect that TBA to better than Clayborn and Brown. They just aren't here yet.

Also, I suspect that we underestimate the difficult of having 4 new starters on the DL, to be led by a new D.

At least Schiano wan't have his starters unlearn old habits.

Still strange to me that the NYJ didn't spend the $1m option on Pennel. They only gained $1.6m in space.

Hes had two really good years in a row. I don't get it.

Edit: Scheme change

Edit: Scheme change.
The Jesters will run more 4-3 looks this season...which is kinda what we're doing here already, so I'm unsure why our 4-3 will be a better fit for him than their 4-3.
