Folks, this differs from the tuck rule because Peyton's arm was hit when the ball was by his ear, and he started to lose it there.

It's either an incomplete pass or a fumble.

Regardless of who wins this game, I have to believe that if the Pats win tomorrow and play well, they should beat either team. Denver on the road doesn't scare me that much.

This is going to be a crazy weird ruling.

I can understand why it stands.

Manning's arm was hit as he was coming over the top, and that knocked loose the ball. But then what do you do about the fact that the ball was moving forward? And when QB's arms are hit, the ball goes forward, it's considered a pass attempt?

I seriously think the rulebook is not equipped to deal with what just happened.

The question is whether the hand was coming forward, not the ball, for what it's worth. Ref said the ruling "stands," which I think means one of two things: the ruling on the field was that he began to lose the ball before the hand went forward and never regained complete control, or that he regained tuck possession before the fumble. I didn't see either. Looked like a classic tuck, but who knows what the rationale on the field was?
