Week 8 was much friendlier to the betting public. Lots of players in the green this week. Mgcolby had the biggest jump this week with a +70k! Archangel, Hyped, mikeym, and Froob also had big weeks over 40k in winnings. Archangel also took over sole possession of 1st place with his big week. And sadly, we must say goodbye to another participant as Fightingirish went bankrupt. Thank you for joining us this season, and we will see you again in August I hope. We are now down to 24 of us from a starting point of 30.

There were 8 people who chose the Steelers in the Pool Contest. You all shared the 80k pot with 10k each. Three of you also correctly had 31 points for the 49ers, and collected 10k for that. Nobody had the final score of 31-14 for 50k. We will continue the Pick the Score contest this week and likely through the rest of the regular season.

Below are the results and current rankings as we near the season's midpoint. I will have the Week 9 betting thread up by Thursday afternoon.

As a sneak peak, I am posting here the coming week's Pool Contest. DO NOT MAKE YOUR PICKS IN THIS THREAD. I just want everyone to be aware of this so nobody misses out on your possible share of 100k!!! There are only 4 choices, so it is more likely you will be sharing with more people should you win. But there is also a 1 in 4 chance to win.

I have chosen four underdogs who are all currently in the +3.0 to +3.5 range, so they are equal dogs in the eyes of Vegas. You will choose the team you think will have the largest winning margin. If all 4 lose their games, the winner will be whichever team loses by the least points. If there is a tie, the team that scores the most points will be the winner. This gives you time to think about this one. There are 24 of us now. If our bets are equally spread out at 6 per team, the winners would bank $17k each!

See you all Thursday.

Big win but, I'm taking it one step at a time.

I don't completely understand the pool contest. Give me an example of what I should be doing.
Ex: Chargers by 10 (?), is this how it should be worded?

You will choose one of the 4 teams: Rams, Lions, Falcons, Commanders. They all happen to be 3 point underdogs, so they are pretty even bets on which team will perform the best.

You are trying to pick the team you think will win by the greatest margin. So if the scores are Rams 20 - 17, Lions 24 - 20, Commanders 28 - 21, and the Falcons lose....the Commanders would be the winning bet. Their margin of victory was 7 points. The others were 4, 3, and a loss.

Now let's say all 4 teams lose their games. The team with the closest loss is the winning bet.

To be honest, I am having more fun rooting for my Dingleberry bets on TNF, SNF, and MNF than my own FFL players.

Who are the home teams in the pool bets?

Ah, good question. Going by memory, I think Commandskins, Rams, and Falcons are all home while Rams are on the road. It will be listed within the lines in the betting thread though. All 4 are between (+2.5) and (+3.5) right now, even expectations for all 4 teams. It's a tough choice.

Thank you. I am actually really glad to hear that!

It was my intention when I started the Pool Bet, and now the Pick the Score bet. It would give all of us something else to root for on Sundays. Last year, I provided player props for players across the league. They were rarely bet. It seemed most only had an interest in betting Patriots players. I get that.

These "free" contests encourage everyone to make a pick for a chance to win more dinglebucks, and thus gives something else to track on game day. I'm not sure how many were keeping track of the 49ers/Rams score last week, but I was.

Wait until next week when the Pats are on the bye. Got some plans to make the weekend more interesting for all of us.

I fell in like with one of the props, the first drive ending in a tie. The funny thing is that in the Pats/Browns game I missed the beginning and thought that the Pats had the first drive. I missed the Brissett INT.

I gambled on the 49ers/Rams pick and went with the Rams in a low scoring game. Well, it was low scoring for them. :)
