If Corey were being disciplined for something it would have to have been something else like missing a meeting or a bus. I don't think he was - I think that was just a function of his not being in the initial scripted plays. And I think it was a brilliant plan to give JAX an unexpected wrinkle to think about that they probably hadn't seriously anticipated. BB could care less about his little tirade against the media which was clearly provoked and had nothing to do with anything other than his frustration with their obnoxious behavior and one dimentional questioning.
I think Corey is as disappointed as anyone in the way things have gone on the ground this season. But that he refuses to dwell on the negative and continues playing hard hurt is a quality BB and these players generally appreciate. He's just not having as much success carrying the ball - except across the goal line of course - for as others have stated a number of reasons. Intermittent execution on offense has been a concern for this team all season. Brady has been waiting for this unit to get dialed in, and even Saturday night they were not early on. They've gotten away with it of late because the defense has been dialed in early on, which has bought them time they weren't getting earlier in the season to establish a rhythm on offense.
And as for Felger's spin, he is not a beat reporter any more (Tomasi was hired to fill that slot after Felger got his ESPN radio show). He's a talk show host and "Beat Columnist" for the Herald now. And as Dan Shaughnessy's editor at the Globe was always quick to point out, it's a columnists job to provoke interest by expressing opinions that need not be factually valid, not to report dry facts. It's a style over substance promotion based on the writers ability to sell papers by generating controversy. Felger seems to be loving it. He's long been opinionated but kept it out of his print work because as a beat reporter he couldn't necessarily back his up. Now he's under no obligation to.
