Did Maroney get benched last night?

Do you mean Reggie Bush? 1,050 3.6?????????

Maroney's 1,180 4.4 line looks like a super star by comparison.

The funny thing is all these "experts who start stoopid threads like this would throw both these guys away, draft McFadden, then want to dump him if he gets injured or doesn't have a 100 yard game by October.

If I ran a team, I wouldn't let geniuses like this within ten miles of my draft room or practice field.

Stupid thread. Who is saying to throw maroney away? maroney was benched last week. He was not on the injury report and had no idea that he was injured when the media talk to him.

The label stupid thread applies to everything that is even the slightest bit critical of anything patriots.

So tell me. If you had to draft maroney all over again would you?

Unlike many, I don't sit around and wait until it's obvious. That's like saying "let's wait until we win it all before we say this is the greatest team of all time". No kidding!!!!! Why the hell do I have to wait to say that if I can already see with my own two eyes that, YES, this is the GREATEST TEAM of ALL TIME. If they fail to win it all, than I will call it a CHOKE JOB. It is the GREATEST TEAM of ALL TIME and it will be an absolute GAG JOB if they fail to win it all, barring an insane # of injuries. The same applies to Maroney. I'm not going to sit back and watch 2-3 more years of mediocrity before I call this kid a BUST. Why wait when I can already tell this kid is AVERAGE and has no special skills? I march to the beat of my own drum. I'm ahead of the curve baby.

So if injuires occur and someone like Moss or god forbid Brady goes down your going to call this team a gag job?

You're to vague in your descriptions of how you feel. You cant call this the greatest team of all time becuase someone can still figure out a way to stop us. You dont know if it can happen, i dont know if it can happen.

But to say the team is either GREAT DYNASTY PWNAGE or CRAP GARBAGE CHOKE EATERS! Is just silly.

Yes. Honestly. Too much upside over the other talent besides Bush at the time. Hindsight is always clearer but you have to take what your given if you go back in time..

The label stupid thread applies to anything not kissing the ass of every pats player and or the team.

Coach Bill Belichick indicated on WEEI this week that Maroney had an X-ray, possibly on his foot, at halftime.

Amazing. And you can tell all of this within a player's first two years? Outstanding! You kow so much! Why don't you go join an NFL front office? I'm sure the Ravens front office who hire you, since you can tell if a guy like Maroney has no talent whatsoever. Boy, could you fix their offensive woes!

Buddy, what is your point???? Was it NOT obvious to ANYONE watching that Duane Starks was a BUST during his 1st year with the Pats? Should we have given him more "time" to prove himself and have brought him back for year 2? Afterall, according to your awesome logic, we can't tell based on just 1-2 years and BB and Pioli know something we don't know. Wake up. These guys make mistakes and I don't need them to tell me they were mistakes to confirm it. That's why God gave me eyes and a brain.

Its supposed to be an extreme exaggeration. That was the point.

Did you not understand it? It was quite obvious.

Not sounding demeaning or anything.

Ya, so Reggie Bush is mediocre? Exactly my point. Should Saints fans give this kid more time???? No, they should be calling this kid OVERRATED and be irate that their front office wasted a top 5 pick on the kid. I guess it's ok in Pats homer nation to call Bush a bust but Maroney isn't? Puhleaze. They are both BUSTS. Howver, at least Bush is a threat in the passing game. He had 88 receptions last year and has 67 this year. He is still a better player than Maroney.

I agree.

I think there where far better choices. How about Addai. i know hindsight is 20 / 20 but if a first round player leaves you wishing you picked elsewhere then there are some issues IMO.

But Duane Starks was taken in as a project CB. He was no longer the elite player the Cardinals had signed from the Ravens.

Duane Starks was a bust because he couldnt learn the Defense and could not cover players.

Hes out of the NFL right now. Or was.

Of course. I am saying that someone makes one critical post , and the supposed fair people around here act as if someone is saying the craziest thing in history.

I dont know how many times I have been told I said things I did not in this thread.

No, what's silly is the inability of pats homer nation to read and comprehend anything written that is the slightest bit negative about anything NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS FOOTBALL. If you actually READ my post, you will notice that I said it will be huge GAG JOB, unless there is injuries to key guys. You guys are going to tell me that barring injuries to key guys, that this team would not have to pull a GAG JOB of epic proportions to NOT win the super bowl? Puhleaze. Anything less than a Super Bowl from a team that goes 16-0 in the regular season is a GAG JOB. You guys would be saying that about the Colts if they did it and you know it.

The difference is that Duane Starks was a seasoned veteran who came in right away and got torched by 5th-string receivers. Right away we knew he was awful, because every single play he got burned.

Maroney is 22 years old recently out of college who is still learning one of the most complex offenses in the nfl. Do you see the difference between judging a very young player and a vet?

That would pretty much make every argument dealing with player performance pmoot if you use that kind of logic.

Good work

Running back is a position that teams expect immediate dividends from when they use 1st rd pick on them.

Well, I don't pretend to be a GM, I only give my opinion.

Teams that are patient and develop players are teams like Patriots, Colts Steelers.

Teams that make rash judgements on players are Cardinals, Lions (formerly) etc.

Maroney has been in the nfl for close to two years. There should be more there.

He was a project? They brough him in to be a starter. That's a project? Wow, you guys can just not admit that BB and Pioli make mistakes. It's unreal.

That's a valid point.

I would add that expectations are not always justified just because there is precedent. A RB could take more than five snaps to get up to speed if he is being asked to change his running style. I haven't written him off, but I am thinking that he has to change his style to a degree that makes him uncomfortable. There is a question whether he can, or will.

He lost his job to Sammy Morris as far as I'm concerned. Morris is dependable and predictable. Laurence even fools his OL, and I've *seen* them standing around unable to block because Laurence ran away from them (and got buried.)

Dancing with the Stars isn't going to make it. Emmit Smith might get away with it but that's because he's RETIRED.

It is scary. I think bb and pioli are the best in the biz. However they do make mistakes. People around here just cannot fathom the pats drafting a ineffective player.

Addai had many problems coming out. Heck the Colts chose him in panic mode since Maroney was their guy all along.

They heavily invested tons of time and scouts into him.

Still learning one of the most complex offenses in the NFL???????????? Wow. I mean, just WOW! He is a running back. Here's the ball son, here's the hole, now run thru the friggen thing. That is complex?????????? We aren't talking about a quarterback. You think our offense is more complex than Indy's??? How come Addai has no problems? Man, I should have known better than to discuss football with the former card carrying members of Drew Bledsoe is a FRANCHISE QB nation.
