Did Maroney get benched last night?

Every player you draft is someone you think can have top potential.

Or maybe it's that Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli have more wisdom than all of us, and somehow they know from experience that even 1st round picks need time to develop? Nahhh..

Or maybe, they can get a homer-hitter and teach him to hit singles and doubles so that in the future, he can be a single/double hitter with home-run ability? Like say...Willie Parker?

If you think for one second that this is the player they thought they were getting when they drafted him, than you are awfully naive. There is no way in hell that they can be happy with this kid's progress. No way in hell.

National Sports Adviser, and Danny18... When Maroney does bust out and have a big game, all your going to say is he should because he has the best line is football. All you 2 idiots do is complain about how maroney is a BUST. I agree he has struggled... but WHEN he breaks out, I want the both of you to go in your little hole and SHUT UP...You two are the same that idiots that anytime someone struggles, you try to ride them out of town. You said he couldn't carry the ball inside the 10...Well didn't he score inside the 6 last game... Oh wait ..your reason is that he had the biggest hole... Keep thinking of more and more reasons to call him a BUST, and he'll prove you wrong each time.

He is not giving the desired production at this early stage in his career. I have already expressed my disappointment in that he has not rushed for 1000yards off the bat. However, I'm keeping it realistic, and I understand the time it takes to learn in the NFL. You on the other hand want to take Darren McFadden right away.

Cleveland did the same thing you want to do when they took Brady Quinn last year. Now, a very young guy they had on their roster before Quinn is playing extremely well. So Quinn is on the bench.

There is no way in hell that they can be happy with this kid's progress. No way in hell.

They aren't satisfied at all. Therefore they should uphold their end of the bargain and coach him so he produces favorably.

Great logic. After Maroney has a big game we should all throw a party. He will show us!!! Because first round backs are not SUPPOSED to have big games all the time.

The fact we are still waiting for Maroney to break out is proof of how he has been a disappointment thus far.

Btw I do not try to ride players out of town when they struggle. Find me an exmaple on this board. Stop making things up. I was not the one who called him a bust.

We dont have another running back tearing it up so that Cleveland point makes no sense.

Stop blaming the coaching staff for maroney's ineffective running.

We are not talking right away. This is game 11 on year two.

I still don't see why this argument is all or nothing.

Has Maroney been disappointing and injury prone?

Yes.

Has he been a total bust who's shown no potential?

Certainly not.

Watson and Warren could have been viewed this way 21 games in.

Hey, I'm far from perfect, but I am right more than I am wrong. I just want my teams to win and I want players/coaches/owners to all do their jobs to see to it that it happens. Just because we are 10-0 does not mean I have to bake cookies for every player on this team. I am the same guy that was driving the bus to get Drew Bozo out of this town well before I knew Tom Brady was Tom Brady. I knew Drew Bozo wasn't the answer even though all the toadies kept making excuse after excuse after excuse for the bum. I am NOT saying Maroney can't play or that he is a bum. I am saying he is a BUST based on his 1st rd draft status and that he is not the long-term answer as the starting running back on this team. I don't care if we draft a RB in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or whatever round next year, but I want us to go out and find a guy that can carry the load and give us BIG PLAYS from the RB postion, which Glass simply HAS NOT been able to do. Period.

Wha? I said if we draft McFadden then another Cleveland situation could happen. That's all.

I'm not "blaming" the coaching staff.

I am right more than I am wrong.

That's a joke in itself. You clearly have more widom than our front office.

How the hell would you know that????

Who the hell said I knwo more than our front office? You can twist and turn my words all you want my friend, but I'm not the guy who drafted Maroney, Bethel Johnson, Brock Williams, signed Monty Beisel, Duane Starks, and traded for Doug Gabriel. The bottom line is our front office is the best in the business, but YES THEY DO MAKE MISTAKES. Laurence "Glass" Maroney is one of those mistakes. Why pats homer nation is unwilling to recognize that fact is beyond me. When BB and Pioli drafts a RB in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd rd next year will that be PROOF that they aren't satisfied with Maroney? I'm sure the Glass supporters are already working on their excuses to explain that. Also, why do you keep bringing up McFadden? Nobody is saying they should take him. Hell, there will probably be at least 6 running backs in this draft better than Maroney. It's not hard to find somebody better than Maroney, my friends.

This could be the most ridiculous ongoing thread I've seen.

Watson and Warren don't play running back. Running back is a position that teams expect immediate dividends from when they use 1st rd pick on them. That's why I'm not concerned about Merriweather. I don't expect defensive backs(unless drafted in the Top 5) to come in and set the world on fire. However, I do expect the #1 running back taken in the ENTIRE draft to come in and play better than 500 yards, 1 TD, and 2 receptions in YEAR #2 of his career playing on the best offense of all-time.

How do you know what the Patriots expect? Is your name Pioli or Belichick?

Maroney was the 2nd RB drafted.

I completely disagree with most of what your saying btw.

Guys, stop arguing. National Sports Advisors is right. he knows everything. C'mon, he was right about the Brady/Bledsoe situation, so he mhas to be right about the Mroney situation, since he has equal wisdom to the coaches. Maroney is a bust two years into his career. How can you tell so early? National Sports Advisors knows everything.

SeanBruschi54, he won't count Bush as a runningback, since he is more of a multi-dimensional weapon.

Do you mean Reggie Bush? 1,050 3.6?????????

Maroney's 1,180 4.4 line looks like a super star by comparison.

The funny thing is all these "experts who start stoopid threads like this would throw both these guys away, draft McFadden, then want to dump him if he gets injured or doesn't have a 100 yard game by October.

If I ran a team, I wouldn't let geniuses like this within ten miles of my draft room or practice field.

Unlike many, I don't sit around and wait until it's obvious. That's like saying "let's wait until we win it all before we say this is the greatest team of all time". No kidding!!!!! Why the hell do I have to wait to say that if I can already see with my own two eyes that, YES, this is the GREATEST TEAM of ALL TIME. If they fail to win it all, than I will call it a CHOKE JOB. It is the GREATEST TEAM of ALL TIME and it will be an absolute GAG JOB if they fail to win it all, barring an insane # of injuries. The same applies to Maroney. I'm not going to sit back and watch 2-3 more years of mediocrity before I call this kid a BUST. Why wait when I can already tell this kid is AVERAGE and has no special skills? I march to the beat of my own drum. I'm ahead of the curve baby.

That would pretty much make every argument dealing with player performance pmoot if you use that kind of logic.

Good work

Amazing. And you can tell all of this within a player's first two years? Outstanding! You kow so much! Why don't you go join an NFL front office? I'm sure the Ravens front office who hire you, since you can tell if a guy like Maroney has no talent whatsoever. Boy, could you fix their offensive woes!

I find no need anymore to blast fellow Pats Fans. We get enough heat from other teams and media that i dont want to trash the only people i have something in common with.

I just say that im pretty much completely disagreeing with everything.

Could i go on an epic debate?

Possibly. But i choose to just relax for once.

McFadden has to many flaws that most people dont see. I mean if you compare this years draft to last this years draft sucks in just pure talent.

Almost every player last year was better rated than players coming out this year. Peterson was definitely better than McFadden.

Thomas > Long etc.

Ya, so Reggie Bush is mediocre? Exactly my point. Should Saints fans give this kid more time???? No, they should be calling this kid OVERRATED and be irate that their front office wasted a top 5 pick on the kid. I guess it's ok in Pats homer nation to call Bush a bust but Maroney isn't? Puhleaze. They are both BUSTS. Howver, at least Bush is a threat in the passing game. He had 88 receptions last year and has 67 this year. He is still a better player than Maroney.
