Chris Godwin, Super Bowl Champion and arguably the #1 WR on the Bucs (at worst #2), had 104 catches for 1024 yards last year. That yardage is good for 21st in the NFL.
And if you watched the games then you'd have noticed he was extremely limited coming off the ACL for most of the season. He didn't have good lateral movement or burst.

Your claims of Patricia telling Jones to throw up 50 - 50 balls and not to place the ball out of the DBs reach is comedy gold. Then, you people want to blame Parker when he doesnt win the jump ball contest. 2022 @ Miami the ball should have been placed in the back corner of the endone so Parker had a play on it and nobody else.
The INTs on Parker's targets were mostly Mac's fault.

I don't get the complaints on this signing. Parker is a good receiver. Having good players is positive. If things stay the way they are then absent Parker you have JuJu, Bourne, Thornton, and a couple of 6th round rookies... that's frightening. Given health, with Parker, it's decent group, especially considering the improved TE depth and complimentary running game expected from Stevenson. Add Hopkins and then obviously the outlook improves further.

Sorry, my point may not have been clear. I used the Godwin example to show that (in general) using "He'll never be a top-20 WR" as a knock would be leaving out some really good players every year. There are 1000+ yard receivers that don't make the top-20 cut, so it's not as derogatory as the poster intended it to be. Not that yards is the end all be all for WR, but as a quick and dirty way to compare them.

"Open" is a relative term. If the Qb throws the ball and it's caught then whether he is 3yards from the nearest defender or 3 inches during the catch is irrelevant. Agree frequency matters...to a point.

I agree if we are talking about a player who rarely gets touches but if a "big play" WR gets 15% less touches/routes run/catches than possession WR but has more yards, TDs and opens things up for other receivers and the running game then he is by far more valuble.

Correct. All routes are not equal nor is their purpose.
No matter how you want to define open, getting open is the critical skill.

I like that it frees up cap space. If he can stay healthy I believe he can contribute to the BOB offense.

My concern with him is last season he seemed to lack the fight to come down with the ball, I do not mean the 50-50 jump balls, passes intended for him that were slightly off target, he didn’t seem to fight for it. However I’m confident BOB will light a fire under his ass.

Patricia made Mac Jones throw INTs.

50 - 50 balls in fact. Patricia has been a DC and a good one and he has learned that HOF QBs throw up the 50 - 50 pass in lieu of the pass where the DB cant make a play on it. If Jones can master the Jump Ball we have ourselves a QB.

If he can master not soiling himself under pressure, then we might have ourselves a QB.

The odds of both players playing 75% of the season's snaps are remote.

The need the role in the offense and a legitimate threat defenses need to respect.
Didn't anyone say D-Hop??

To be fair I thought Parker looked terrific with Mac later in the season. He was super reliable. We were handicapped when he got injured.

Reiss is reporting that the extension doesn't include a whole lot of gauranteed money and is tied heavily to incentives.

Does this change the perception of things?

Pats had leverage. They could have cut him. Hes 30.5 yo

Not sure what others had for a perception but hes being paid as a WR2 or a very good WR3 who has an injury history.

Agreed

It would need to be largely incentives, or it would be a horrible deal.

Parker is 30 years old and has averaged 46 catches and 650 yds over 8 years. Last year he caught 31 passes, and the year before 40.

33 million for a guy because he catches 66% of 50 or so passes. Hopkins caught twice as many as Parker last year, despite being suspended 6 games, and people say he's done.

$5 a year for Parker does not seem like an overpay to me. I think Hopkins is looking for $10 to $11M?
