Derrick Brooks could sign with Pats? [Update: Mort: Signs...but with ESPN]

I would like Brooks here but am not going to get any hopes up this time because I thought Jason Taylor was on his way here before he went to Miami.

Just saw his interview on ESPN. Says he definitely wants to play this year and basically confirmed the Pats and Bears interest. Says decision could come Monday. I think if Brooks comes here, he'll be a coverage LB playing mostly on 3rd downs, and would be pretty good at it.

They did? Where'd you hear that? I'm sure the guy has lost a step or 2, but he still had 7 passes defended and 1 INT last year. That's more PDs that any other LB on the Bucs. All our LBs put together had 18 PDs and 1 INT.

Willie Mac is starting to look really good right now - I think it COULD happen

With that said, would Burgess give up 55 if Willie does come back??

I would like to see Brooks in Pats uniform next week. I've talked to my friend who is a knowledgeable TB fan and he was shocked by his release. Claimed he was still high motor and one of the smartest football players out there.

Personally, If this guy still has game speed he would be a welcome addition to this team.
