Derek Carr to Jets - Please make it happen.

Have you really watched Carr play? He is regularly very mediocre and most of the time that he has a good game he choked at the end. Raider fans have considered him to be THE problem for years
FWIW, I don't think Carr is very good. Even the QB you describe would be an upgrade over Wilson for the Jete. It would also prolong the suckage for NY.

Isn’t he meeting with the Saints next, who were also willing to trade for him on his old contract? To be honest, he’s probably more likely to have success there than the Jets.
Carr already had discussions with the Saints that were related to a trade, but it didn't happen.

Carr got released by the Raiders Feb 14th and he's now a free agent.

Carr changed agents, and his old agent leaked that he was looking for $35m, the Kirk Cousins deal.

It is assumed he left that agent (CAA) because they were telling him he wouldn't get it, and he didn't want to hear it.

He may be over-playing his hand, time will tell...

Right, but I heard that the Saints were still interested and that Carr was going to take his time. He probably wants more than he deserves, but once Jimmy G signs somewhere, there’s not going to be many decent QBs left in free agency and some team will have to overpay for him.

I agree, but will add that "I'm going to take my time" means "I haven't been offered what I want".
Since that is true he has to wait till some team decides to meet his demand or he decides to take less.

Right. I just think we’re going to see some desperate teams looking for QBs at some point in free agency, as there aren’t enough good vets to go around.

I'm surprised we don't see that strategy employed more often.
It seems there's always an injury during camp that makes a team really desperate.
I guess they're something to said for the bird in the hand?

Maybe it's a double-edged sword. Speculating now, but aren't deals that happen like that typically short-term ones? And the QB is trying to earn a good long-term deal, either with that team or somewhere else. In a situation where you come in due to an injury during training camp, I'd be willing to bet that your chances of excelling will be considerably diminished, thus diminishing your chance of scoring a nice new contract the following year.

Also, there’s always the thought that the QB who got injured will get their job back the next season.

I was thinking more like Tampa Bay, where they don’t have a serviceable QB and if they don’t come up with something during free agency, then they’re drafting and wasting a year of their high-priced talent. I could see them overpaying if desperate.

I mean Carr is still better than Mac

McDaniels liked Mac, and did not like Carr. McDaniels let Carr go because Carr could not understand the EP system. Carr is more experienced than Mac, but Carr's inability to read defenses will always limit him. Mac is not limited in that way. We will see how good Mac is with BoB. We need an OL.

I mean, Carr makes the Jets better than they were last year, there's no doubt. But I don't think it makes them a Super Bowl contender. From the Pats perspective, it's not a hinderance to the broader longterm goal (winning a SB), but it does make the schedule next year a little harder.

Right, I'm not sure how much better than last year they'll be, either. I think Carr is a middle-of-the-road QB. I don't think Carr scares Mayo or Steve on defense.

Damn you guys are quick.

Please Aaron Rodgers to the Jets I’d much rather they mortgage their future Vs drafting LevIs or Richardson.

Imagine they lose out on AR as well, who’s next, back to Wilson?
There was a Tannehill rumor a few weeks ago. That would be just as entertaining as Carr, as far as I’m concerned.

Titans said they are keeping Tanny.

Jets may take a shot at Jackson or Trey Lance?

Carr is really bad. I'd stick with Jameis.

Trying to get Rodgers would be a Jetsy thing for the Jets to do.
