Why do we want them to get a good QB.
Look at how solid Cutler was after he got away from Mcdaniels.
Carr will have a huge boulder on his shoulder and some big weapons to work with.

Carr had better weapons with the Raiders.

The NYJs ruin QBs. It doesn't matter if they've been in the league a decade plus or if they're the latest high 1st round draft pick; they will be ruined.

Brett Favre went from slinging turnovers and touchdowns to sending **** pics to staff.

Yes please. Really anyone but lamar and maybe even jimmy g , hed make them pretty decent for whichever half the season he plays

Huh? The Cutler who had exactly ONE year with a rating above 90 and that was 92? The same guy who threw 26 interceptions the year AFTER he 'got away from McDaniels'. He was about as solid as Jello.

Hoping this is sarcasm.

Jay Cutler was traded from the Broncos to the Bears and a had a really good career there.

Well, the Jets were winning games with practically no QB at all. I would think Carr would make them better. Although I guess I thought Carr would make the Raiders good, too.

Lotta folks here and elsewhere agree Carr ain't all that good but still... he's a bajillion times better than Milfson. Not sure I want him on the Jete. Unless it's on some sort of guaranteed crippling contract. Then I'm all for it.

Unfortunately this was a VERY good year for the Jets to survive a massive meltdown of the #2 pick in the 2021 draft. Whomever they get from Rodgers, Carr, JG, or even someone like someone like the Saints QB's like Winston or Dalton would be a quantum leap at QB for that Jets team, and give Wilson a couple of years to revive his career. He STILL has a lot of talent. Today the kid is a major ****, but kids sometimes turn into men. It's because of that talent that there will always be teams willing to take a low risk shot at seeing if he can rebuild his career. MIght as well be with the Pats

Getting back to the Jets. Given the report that GB MIGHT be ready to move on, IF Rodgers wants to play next year, the Jets would be his best fit. The only negative being that being in the AFC there are a LOT of really good QB's in every division but the AFCS. Only the 9-8 Jags have legit QB, while the rest of the division will likely have new starters. If all he is looking for is his best chance of winning his division the Panthers might be a good gig for a year or two

BUT if its the best team regardless, then the Jets are an obvious fit.

He might be the best bears QB of all time and I’m still not sure he was even good.

Wilson is more likely to be the Calgary Stampede’s starting QB than he is an NFL starting QB again.

This "good QB" achieved 6 wins and 11 losses with a stacked Raiders offense.

I believe he meant when McDaniels coached In Denver... furthermore whatever qb the jets do get with that ferocious defense they are only a qb away.. Jets defense is the only defense in the league that makes Allen look like a JAG.. we need to be doing everything we can to get back in contention!!

he said exactly what he meant to say... That Cutler had a very good career after leaving Denver, inferring that Cutler had a "solid career" after getting away from McDaniels...

Firstly, Cutler never played a down for Josh McDaniels... the Cutler led bears made the playoffs once, which was really based on the strength of their defense... He led the league twice in ints during his 8 years in chi-town...

the point he was attempting to make was ridiculous... Thats just my opinion though... Ymmv...

I get it!!! I actually realized after I sent the post that your right cutler didn't play for Josh, he played for Shanahan I believe... cutler was ,from reports a dink, pompous, arrorsgant and not a good community guy from what was said about his time in Chicago.. I'm sure fans were sad to see him leave.. strong arm and all ,but football wasn't his priority.. well.. you know he's not the only one making ridiculous post on this platform lol

Another way to look at it:

Da Jete have sucked for a long time. Absolute bottom of the division, year after year suckage. The talent they now have is because they've had great draft position every year for a solid decade or so, including the windfall they got from SEA for drafting that safety they never should have drafted in the first place.

Now would be the time for them to have a true franchise quarterback, ideally one on a rookie contract, one that could carry them deep into the playoffs, one that could make up for the fact that they still have a lot of holes on their OL. The reason I'm glad to see the interest in Derek Carr (the subject of this thread) is IMO he ain't that guy. He's good enough to make you think you have solved the QB problem, but in the end he's simply a middle of the road guy, can't lift the team around him. If he didn't win with Waller and Jacobs and Adams and an experienced offensive coaching staff, he ain't gonna win with da Jete.

So, in my mind the best case scenario is they sign Carr to a huge contract. He's good enough to maybe occasionally show up in the playoffs, but not good enough to make a deep run. In the mean time the Jete have plateau'd and begin their downhill slide. Instead of drafting top 1-5, they're drafting 11 this year and don't have extra picks like they did last year. Carr's huge contract means they can't sign a lot of FAs. Being the Jete they'll probably find an aging vet or two to overpay. The decent talent they acquired shortly ages out or decides to leave. The Jete window that only opened a hair slams shut.

As for Rodgers, he's actually good enough to lift the players around him, but the Jete would have to pay him huge bucks and trade assets to GB to get him to come to the **** show known as the NYC media circus. The Jete OL is bad, so he'll be running for his life. If he comes, it'd just be to cash out. I doubt he lasts two years if he does. Chances are he picks fights with the media and/or team mates and he's one and done. The window could slam shut even faster with Rodgers than with Carr.
