Dennard arrested for DUI

Yeah - if there's anything this summer has taught us it's that NFL players really benefit from living somewhere other than where they grew up/went to college.

Dennard must have banged a sheriff's daughter or something...

Given the events of the last month, could we use a different expression than "banged"? Thanks!

I'll wait and see what comes out but a player driving drunk and a cop arresting someone on technicalities both are solid possibilities.

If these details are true, people want to cut the guy because he couldn't blow hard enough and/or the breathalyzer malfunctioned.

Unless, Dennard knew/though that blowing softly would produce a reading that would be below the legal limit, the fact he was willing to take the breathalyzer seems to be decent evidence that he at least believed he wasn't drunk.

If this is accurate, then I hope Dennard never sets foot in Nebraska ever again. Seriously. Just stay the **** out.

Unfortunately, he has 100 hours of community service. That is probably why he was in Nebraska in the first place.

I'd get drunk if I was doing community service in Nebraska too.

Based on these reports, this charge will likely be thrown out of court and Dennard likely will not be found in violation of his probation. Goodell probably won't take action either.

So if the Pats listened to the people who wanted Dennard cut right away, the Pats would have cut Dennard for SUSPICION of DUI where he looks to have passed the field sobriety test and two breathalyzer tests. But it would send a message - the Pats made a huge mistake cutting a good player for overreacting to an initial report (assuming Dennard's account is true).

Glad Dennard may survive the "high tech lynching" many here were screaming for.
Jury still out.

Well... looks like I may have overreacted.

If Dennard's side of the story ends up being true and this charge is thrown out, I wonder if guys like Jim Donaldson (see link below), Michael Felger (talked all day yesterday that Dennard has a serious alcohol problem and should be cut), and others will offer him an apology in their respective media.

Why would they? These people are doing their job, getting a reaction from fans.

I am sure the Jaguars are upset the Dennard didn't get cut yesterday like the overraction crowd wanted. I guarantee him that he would have joined Patriots South in Jacksonville and probably never miss a game from confinement or suspension.

I would imagine those who wanted him gone were doing so under the assumption that the arrest was legitimate and confirmed by the Patriots' own investigation.

I know, but I always ask this. The media never have to say they are sorry when they are wrong unless you do something as stupid as Tomasse did or wrong as Borges did. I just wish they would own up to their stupidity.

I wouldn't be surprised that if Dennard is cleared of all charges that Felger will still argue that the Pats made a mistake signing him because even though he is innocent, what if he was guilty.

IDK, half the people here and in the media wanted the Pats to cut him immediately and then investigate whether he was actually guilty. Most of the people who wanted him gone wanted the Pats to cut him yesterday.

They won't cut him and he'll be vaguely above average next year.

Mark my words or I shall smite thou!!

I'm sure they will all apologize, in fact I would bet they all get together and do so at Ron Borges yearly Self Flagellation Charity Ball where he flails himself and begs forgiveness for everything he was wrong about the previous year. I also expect both Felger and Mazzarotti to buy the gowns that the creators of South Park wore to the Academy Awards a few years ago and finally come out as a couple on that gala evening.

thank you sir...may I have another?...

Oddly, this Denard fiasco can turn out to be a good thing. It's open season on all Patriot Players right now. If the latest tweets are true, it could stop the witch-hunt and undermine the 'assume the worst' mentality about the Pats. God, maybe we can start talking a little bit about football.

So maybe they'll keep him under one condition: Do not go back to Lincoln, nebraska again. Ever.
