The question of our defense also goes beyond the players, as we've yet to see what could be the most glaring loss after moving on from Bill - how well the defense performs. He screwed the pooch on a lot towards the end, but oddly enough I felt like his defenses just kept getting better from 2012-2022. He squeezed a LOT out of his groups.

If we still had Bill, I'd be confident that the defense would be pretty good with those names. As of right now, Im really hoping this is where Mayo and Co. shines or we could be in trouble.

It’s hard to be confident when you see a defense that was the best coached defense in the league (game planning, teaching, schemes to hide weaknesses, usage of role players effectively) getting the most out of role players, not only lose the coach but also many key pieces that weren’t replaced by eqaul talents.
Even though all the bb years of always being good on D when we couldn’t stop the run, it changed everything. I don’t see how we stop the run.

Now we are being told to rely on complimentary and part time players to become the stars.
And while Mayo and Covington remain, what BB DC ever duplicated his success without him?

People forget when we lost the PLAYERS... Rodney, law Willie, Bruschi, Warren, green.. to name a few our defense was in the bottom of the league for a few seasons.. in the early 2010s..

Absolutely Bill was a defensive master when he has the players. We are without Judon and Barmore the defense took a hit and other guys will need to step up. However the secondary is amongst the top in the NFL

You forgot all about 400 yards passing allowed in 2011,2012 when you put your stats up. Your stats also help prove me point. When the defense hasn't been on we loose superbowls.

Additionally the went to at least the AFFCG 8 of the 10 years and the SB 5 of the 10 years, winning 3.

How much easier did Barmore and Judon make the secondary's job?
