Darrelle Revis Rumors and Speculation

To be honest, I'm curious to see how the Patriots would pull off paying Revis and Talib excellent money to be their starting Cornerbacks. The economics of it all has me intrigued.

They would have to release Wilfork and then they would probably do some creative structuring with the cap expected to increase

I don't expect Revis to sign for about the same price as Talib.

Why would the market consider Revis to be worth the same as part-timer Talib?

Many comments here are simply anti-Revis because he played for the jets. Perhaps he will take another huge payday from Oakland or someone else. Or perhaps he will accept being the highest paid defensive player from someone else at a lesser amount.

Revis would be a transforming addition to the defense.

We have no clue what's going on with Revis, the priority is and should be to re-sign Talib.

If we can't re-sign him and Revis is a FA then we should go after him. He'll probably be around the same price as Talib (he won't go for 16M again).

Revis+Talib+McCourty+a rookie safety or Harmon gives us an even better secondary than Seattle. Add in Wesley Woodyard and another couple of young front 7 players and boom, top 3 defense along with the aforementioned and San Fran.

Come to terms with the offer that's reportedly on the table for Talib and then make moves to get as close as possible to Revis' asking price (I.E. - cut Wilfork and make some other ancillary moves like cutting Adrian Wilson). It's not going to happen, but that's one way to go about it.

Rapport reporting CLE as a team to watch for Revis. Can you imagine Revis and Haden on the same team.

I know, that would give them the potential for a .500 record.

IF somehow Revis were to come to NE...would the cesspool over at JI have one giant panic attack?

Some are already freaking out

I just can't believe that they would put that much capital into that position. Hayden is in his last year of his deal and he is going to demand elite CB money (rumor are they are already working on an extension). And the Browns are in no position to sign Revis as an one to two year rental.

I can't see the Browns allocating $25-35 million a year to the starting CB position (Rappaport say they may trade for Revis and inherit his $16 million a year salary).

My guess is Rappaport is throwing crap against the wall and since Pettine is the Head Coach of the Browns that he would pursue Revis.

C'mon Pats. The Broncos aren't going to beat themselves in the playoffs. We need Revis!!

Not only that but sounds like they're on the verge of signing S Whitner. Between him Haden and Revis that would be insane money to invest in the secondary. We can prob rule out CLE at this point. Leaving NE OAK AND PHI as possible landing spôts according to Schefter and bleacher report

Revis/Haden with their front 7 talent + Manziel/Hoyer and Gordon/Lee/Edelman/Cameron/Tate

They would be on the Patriots/Broncos level.

Yeah, sure. We hear the same thing about the Bungles every year. All of their great players. At least the Bungles make the playoffs before getting smoked by an 8-8 team, the Browns can't even get to .500

The Browns? Same level as the pats/Broncos? I get you're doing 90 on the highway..but pump the brakes here

With that QB tandem, that would be a stretch. Otherwise they are a competitive team. Gave us a scare.

They are only a QB away, particularly if they get Revis and a Ward replacement.

The Browns are my WTF surprise team pick for 2014. They have serious offensive/defensive talent, plenty of cap room, and three top 40 draft picks in arguably the deepest draft in 10 years. Their RB1/WR2 will be massively upgraded and I have a very high opinion of Manziel. Even the Hoyer Browns went 3-0 when they had an actual QB.

Why trade for Revis when he’s about to be on the free market anyway? One reason could be that the Browns think Revis can command even more money on the free market than the $16 million a year he makes on his current contract. Another could be that the Browns think that if Revis were to become a free agent, he wouldn’t want to play for the Browns

Report: Browns consider trading for Darrelle Revis | ProFootballTalk

LOL @ the "if FA" he wouldn't want to play for the browns. We all know he cares about the $$ so he may fit in perfectly .

Brows thinking he could make MORE then16 a year? If that's the case i feel bad for those fans.

I suggested the Revis to Browns thing last night. Makes a tonne of sense.
